Had to give it up.
From the little bit I was getting on the forums, the designers presumed that everyone who wanted to play it would have a top-of-the-line machine and so that's where they set everything at.
I have a middle-of-the-road machine, and it can't _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

No offense, or maybe a ton, but those are old video cards. PC Gaming isn't a cheap hobby, and HBS is using assets from a fairly high end game; MWO.
Also, its in BETA. It hasn't gone through the optimization phase, which is typically one of the LAST phases a game goes through. It will probably run better and smoother on older machines once it goes through.
Having said all of this, I haven't even bought it or played it.
P.S. There is a huge problem in the graphics card world as BitCoin farmers are setting up banks of systems with GPUs, hoarding and driving prices up. _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. I'll probably only ever play the single player. I bought into the Beta as well, but it's one of those games where you need to invest a good amount of time to get good enough to win PvP. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

So, I am playing it on 2 machines.
1) i3 - 2120 @ 3.3ghz (think single core, 4 virtual core?)
Geforce GTX 550 Ti
16gb RAM
Ran it in low, very smooth about 40-50 fps.
2) 7th gen i5 (dual core, 4 virtual cores)
Integrated Intel 620
8gb RAM
Loads fast. Run in low it gives about 30fps.
Neither system is optimal, game isnt optimized eiher, butits playable on what is roughly a 5yr old system.
Hope this help.

Yeah. I have a local friend we may set time up for. Skirmishes seem to last 20-30 minutes so not too bad if you plan for it.

Are you opting in for the multiplayer? _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. They recreate the past, changing it to fit their own interpretations. Thus, they change the future as well." - Leto II

I've asked Mordel to add a new topic area for people playing this.
I hope the official release will make it popular, or Chihawk will charge me directly for the new wing.... _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it.
