Overview:
If there is one thing that our blessed order has learned over the years is that strange
things happen all of the time. The Inner Sphere Lineholder made with Clan tech is a perfect
example
Capabilities:
No one in Com Star is exactly sure why or how this design came into being. But as near as we
have been able to piece together through Kressly Warworks paper trail Clan Wolf in Exile
bought a hundred of the popular designs at a a reduced price with out engines or armor and
weapons. Khan Kell then went about fitting the machines with a similar weapons package that
would pack a bigger punch than the original.
Rumors abound about the newer design, but having seen weapons tests it is going to be an
effective design in the hands of a competent pilot. Though Khan Kell didn't break the bank
with the design he really didn't skimp on the weapons package. All of the lasers have been
switched to ER versions of the same class, and the LRM's have been replaced with larger 10
tube launchers. and enough ammunition to become a serious threat. The biggest change is a
baffling engine upgrade. A Clan XL was installed freeing up enough tonnage for the upgrades
with extra heatsinks. Originally thought to be a secondline mech for clan it was given a
frontline upgrade making many outside observers scratch their heads and wonder what else
might be changed in the popular machine

My main question here is: Why is it mixed tech?
Clan Engine, Clan Sinks, Clan Armor, Clan Weapons. The only components that aren't Clan are the structure, which is the same for Clan and IS, the cockpit (same), and the Gyro.
Wouldn't it just make more sense if it were a pure ClanTech machine made by the republic, like the Roadrunner?

According to the fluff, they bought hundreds of the designs sans armor, engines, and weapons. So they essentially acquired a bunch of IS shells and fitted them with the clan tech they had lying around. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator
