Overview:
    The Ballista BLS-0X was a prototype for the later Ballista BLS-01. It was produced during
    the Civil War era, by the Word of Blake. It serves the roll of close to mid range fire
    support, and specializes in suppression tactics. It is able to easily release a salvo of
    missiles with two Shigunga MRM 40's. To back up these weapons at close range, it also
    utilizes two Hovertec Streak SRM 6's, and 8 M100 Machine Guns. The MRM 40's and Streak SRM
    6's are mounted where the arms normally would be, as this 'Mech was based off of the
    Catapult. The BLS-0X would have its machine guns distributed throughout the torso; 3 in each
    side torso, and one in the center, as well as one mounted in the head. It carried two tons
    of MRM ammo, three tons of Machine Gun ammo, and four tons of SRM ammo. The mech itself was
    wrapped in 18.5 tons of Durallex Heavy Special armor. In addition to this, each leg mounted
    one Anderson Propulsion 21 Jump Jet.

Capabilities:
    The BLS-0X was only a prototype, and not yet refined. However, it clearly defined the
    purpose the BLS-01 would serve. It functioned as close fire support, and was able to bring
    down even the toughest enemy armor, by sheer volume of fire.

Deployment:
    Though only a prototype, the BLS-0X did see extensive combat throughout the latter half of
    the Civil War era, and some few remaining models saw combat into the earlier parts of the
    Jihad.

Variants:
    BLS-01 - A refined version of the BLS-0X, the BLS-01 was used extensively by the Word of
    Blake during the Jihad when heavy fire support at close range was needed. It remained mostly
    similar to the BLS-0X, but replaced all but two machine guns and part of the armor for
    Rotary AC/2's.
    BLS-02 - The BLS-02 was the first true variant of the Ballista. It changed rolls almost
    entirely, becoming a Missile Boat, as opposed to being a Juggernaut. To fit this, it
    replaced the MRM 40's and Streak SRM 6's with LRM 20's, and exchanged the Rotary AC/2's
    torso mounted LRM 5's. Overall, it had more armor than the previous iteration.
    BLS-X02 - Though short-lived, the BLS-X02 quickly proved its worth. This variation was
    introduced shortly after the BLS-02, roughly halfway through the Jihad. It utilized a system
    of ballistic weaponry, while maintaining the fire support role. The missile systems were
    replaced with two Rotary AC/5's each, and the two Rotary AC/2's were replaced with Machine
    Guns.

    BLS-03 - The BLS-03 served the role of Skirmisher, and would be the first of its kind to
    utilize strictly energy weapons. It relied on speed, as well as devastating direct fire
    weaponry, sacrificing much armor, and using an Endo Steel frame.
    
    BLS-04 - The BLS-04 was an attempt by the Republic to enhance the original design of the
    BLS-04. It sacrifices the Rotary AC/2's, and its jump jets, to include more long to medium
    range missile weaponry, and utilize Artemis IV and Apollo fire control systems.
    
    BLS-05 - The BLS-05 would be the final variation of the Ballista, differing from the role of
    Juggernaut or Missile Boat, instead taking the role of Sniper. The MRM 40's and Streak SRM
    6's were replaced with ER PPCs, and the Durallex Heavy Special armor was replaced with
    Stealth Armor. The Rotary AC/2's of the BLS-01 were converted to Imperator-A AC/5's.
