Is out now...I don't know how long it's been out, so this might be old news, but I saw it for the first time at a local computer store yesterday...
I've played Might and Magic VI and VII, and have Might and Magic IV and V (just never got around to installing and playing them...I have lots of stuff like that...MC2, I need to finish Planescape Torment, FF IX, FF VIII, FFIV, etc....ok, so some of these are Playstation games, but you get the idea)...anyways...they are great games and M&M IX looks to continue the trend, if the screenshots on the box and the hint book are anything to go by...
For those of you who have it, let me know what you think of it...

is this the same Might and Magic series as the Heroes of Might and Magic I&II games?

Might and Magic are the RPGs by New World Computing...as far as I remember, most take place in and around Erathia.
Heroes of Might and Magic are Strategy/RPGs based on the Might and Magic games in that they have the same charecters, but in different roles. Instead of being Adelaide, you are commandind Adelaide and the army she controls.
In my opinion the Might and Magic games have better stories, but the HOMM games are much more fun...I mean, where else can you raise an undead army of 3,000 Skeletons?
And FYI, Heroes of Might and Magic III and IV are 2 of the best games I have ever played. I have had Heroes III since it came out, and I still play it. IV is awesome too...worth buying if you like HOMM

Excuse me for a moment here, but...
*drool*
Where can I get this game, and what hardware is needed for it?

it's not hardware intensive, I used to run HOMM2 on a Pentium 133. Collecting the "Golden Goose" artifact and raising an army of 200 black dragons led by a titan was kool then too.

Heroes II requires a Pentium and Windows (not even sure if it needs 95 or not).
Heroes III (the BEST of the IV in my opinion) requires a 166 mhz, 16mb RAM, 4x CD, Win 95 and a sound card. These games are not too graphic, but have some of the best 2D animation outside of an SNK game (Heroes III looks real in many cases.)
The Heroes III Complete pack (Includes Heroes III, Armaggeddon's Blade and Shadow of Death) can be purchased for around $30. This is an awesome deal cause it has the game and its 2 expansion packs. Thats like 24 campaign games, and a hundred odd single scenarios (the single scenarios can last weeks, BTW). Heroes III by itself can be purchased for $20.
And to get a taste of the game...go download the demo available at http://www.3d0.com
The demo sucks, but it helps...
