Should there be a cost increase for all clan weapons due to there superior characteristic compared to inner sphere equivalents?

Inner Sphere produced Clan tech costs ALOT more. Around 10x per StratOps (fabrication pg. 179). Purchasing Clan equipment on the market usually has a 1.3x modifier on their base cost as they are usually excellent quality items (StratOps pg. 167).

Their is also the increased maintenance costs caused by the difficulty locating Clan equipment in the IS (StratOps pg. 179) and difficulty repairing/maintaining Clan equipment (StratOps pg. 182).

Unofficially, Much of the increased material costs associated with Clan equipment production is offset by the Clans advanced production methods and knowledge. Think of a solid state diode vs a vacuum tube; the diode is far more advanced, far more efficient, and far more complex to manufacture, but because of more advanced manufacturing capabilities, its not more expensive for a digital society to produce. Thus, a Clan Gauss and IS Gauss each cost their entities 300k c-bills to produce; and its saves on page count and printing costs.

when building or designing a unit I think the clan weapons & equipment should cost more that inner sphere that's all

The unit builder follows officially published costs. So the only way they'd cost more here is if CGL changed the listed prices. 😉

There's always a general discussion that can be had of whether or not they should cost more, irrespective of how the unit designer is coded. But I think Vagabond had a really good response on that aspect of it.

With Clan-grade equipment becoming increasingly widespread in the Inner Sphere (Defiance is putting their C9M ER Medium Lasers in Locusts, for crying out loud, and even the Kell Hounds have a plant manufacturing Clan-grade Double Heat Sinks, and for a mech described as "affordable" at that), I wonder if we'll see that multiplier start to drop at some point.

In the IlClan era, certain IS factions are actively producing Clan equipment at Clan costs (no fabrication mod). I'd hypothesize that these items are produced at advanced factories that cost oodles more to build/renovate/retool to mass produce these items, but once built don't cost a significant difference when it comes to item cost. Mind you, this is all mental gymnastics to justify an irrational market system; go to deep and that way lies madness.
