Variants:
Built on the bones of a fairly common field refit, the Lancelot-3sl is a logical evolution
of this BattleMech as an anti-aircraft platform. Replacing the arm mounted mid-range large
lasers with long range type 5 autocannons that can be equipped with flak ammunition enhances
this tactical aspect of the design, although the mass requirements for this change
necessitates downgrading the engine, and therefore the top speed of the machine. To help
offset this, the BattleMech is also equipped with an experimental supercharger. Endo-steel
internal structure and ferro-fibrous armor also help contribute to weight savings while
vastly improving armor protection.

I like it a replacement for the rifleman? I wonder how light AC/5 would work?

Lacks the range once you go advanced tech for anti-fighter weapons.
Basically with fighters, you want as much range as possible, and hope for crits/control roles. Turn them into lawn darts.
That’s why my favorite mod for an anti-air Rifleman is to drop the main guns, and give it four AC/2’s with at least 2 tons of ammo.

Meant intro-tech version.
Once you have option of more advanced versions, then quad LB’s are preferred.
But dual LB-10X’s are also good at that point as well.

AC/5 with Flak ammo is good if in the 3025 tech era but using advanced rules. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.
