Overview:
During the Civil War Era, while moving to deployment on the edge of the Concordat, the
Taurian Expeditionary, 2nd Battalion, came across an ancient Vandenburg Miltech cache,
hidden within a concealed storage facility. Inside, among limited amounts of
still-functioning equipment, were numerous Talos TLS-1B chassis, in various stages of
production. These frames were recovered, being refitted and upgraded to a new standard, with
multiple parts such as the fire control and communications system being shared with the
Taurian produced Marshal medium mech'. The result is the TLS-4TE, an ancient, respected
battlemech of the age of the Star League, reborn again to fight for the Concordat. By late
3066, roughly two dozen recovered Talos mechs were upgraded to this standard, a good number
of them being in the stock of the Expeditionary.
Capabilities:
The TLS-4TE has a mixed range armament, with the ability to fire effectively at most brackets.
The right arm houses an LB-10X, with 1 tonne each cluster and slug munitions available,
stored in the case protected left torso, allowing it to effectively engage a wide variety of
targets. In the left and right torso sit an LRM-10 and MRM-10 respectively, each supported
by 1 tonne of ammunition also held in the left torso. The LRM gives the Talos some long
range punching power, and allows it to perform limited indirect fire roles. The MRM provides
good medium to close range punch. Two medium lasers are mounted on the left arm as close
range and fallback weapons, should the Talos' ammunition bays run low, and a small laser in
the head provides close range anti-infantry capability. The original ten heat sinks are upgraded
to doubles, and the weight of this weapon spread is facilitated by a Nissan 200 XL
engine, which propels the mech at standard combat speeds. The 4TE is protected by a respectable
9.5 tonnes of Durallex Medium Ferro Fibrous armour.
