Overview:
The Podargos is a 30 ton wheeled Omni-QuadVee that has recently come into use on the
battlefields of the IlClan era. Even with endo-steel internal structure and ferro-fibrous
armor, the wheeled design and QuadVee conversion equipment leave it with only 4 tons of pod
space and limited internal room. However, its extralight type 210 fusion core can drive it
up to speeds of almost 120 kph on its legs, and almost 130 kph on its wheels.
Capabilities:
In its Prime configuration, three extended-range medium lasers are tied into a targeting
computer, providing accurate fire and the ability to target specific locations in its
targets.
Alternate Configuration A of the Pixargus also mounts an extended-range medium laser, but
only one in this configuration. Supporting the laser are a pair of short-range missile
4-pack launchers fed by a single ton of reloads.
Alternate Configuration B keeps things simple as it mounts a single short-range missile
launcher which launches four missiles at a time from its single ton of reloads. Streak
missile technology ensures every missile hits. Supporting the missile rack are a pair of
extended-range small lasers.
Alternate Configuration C is a scout, with an active probe to search for hidden enemies, an
ECM suite to enable electronic warfare, and a TAG unit to spot for artillery fire.
Offensively, the design has been given a single extended-range medium laser.
Alternate Configuration D has an anti-infantry role, with two anti-personnel Gauss rifles
sharing a single ton of ammunition. Against more hardened targets, a single medium pulse
laser has been mounted.
Deployment:
The Podargos is quickly gaining a name for itself on the battlefield as a small, but highly
capable Omni-QuadVee design. Many units, particular cavalry and ranger clusters are making
requests for more of the design to be deployed to their ranks.
