Some fluff behind WHY this is needed and WHO uses it and WHEN and WHERE would be helpful.

Even though I consider weapons of mass destruction above the use of a true clan warrior I think a TAG would have more use than a rear facing ER Med. After all the LPL can have the arm reverse and/or the machine can torso twist and bring that same weapon to bear.

Or, instead of a TAG, there's always flamers or a machine gun with ammo to handle infantry. (MG or flamer handles infantry, pulse lasers take out their carriers, large laser is saved for escort vehicles.)

I am not very good at writing fluff. There are always holes in it that people like to argue over. That is why I avoid it. And besides, to find out who, when and where, just look in the TRO. It has all of the info for that. As for why, it is the only design that does not use ammo, that is why I designed it, and why someone may use it.

That could work, but the use of artillery is considered dishonorable. So TAG would have little use in a fight, unless it broke down into a melee. As for reversing the arms, I believe that can only be done if both arms have no lower arm or hand actuators. It cannot be one or the other. I could also change the med. laser to a set of ER small lasers in the arms.

I would not use MGuns on this version. The reason I made this was so that there would be a non-ammo based configuration. The flamers could work, but the range on them is very short. I think the small lasers in the arms, which I suggested above, would work for handling infantry.

You might have me on the reversing arms thing. However my point remains pretty much the same as you have weapons in both arms so no matter where you opponent is you can torso twist and get at least on weapon to bear.

With the exeption of the not clanlike rear mounted ER Medium Laser, i like the design.
With ECM & Active Probe it will make a good scout.
How about replacing the ER Medium Laser with a Targeting Computer ?
Then any opponent will think at least twice before meshing with your Shadow Cat C

Doing that would create more of a munchy variant. Not only that but he would have to also turn in his Probe and ECM to gain the needed weight.

Not everything needs fluff; however, it is still nice. Just make sure that you only put just the facts- in this case, you could say that an all-energy version was comissioned because the recent fighting has proven a hinderance to everyone's supply chains and that more units were needed that could handle this. Not only is this plausible, but it opens the door for a lot more designes.
As far as artillry goes- while yes, Clanners dislike artillery, there is still enough artillery and missile support units out there (Bowman, Naga, Mars Tank, a varient Uller I cooked up, etc.) to possibly warrant another TAG carrier.
As fas as lasers, I don't know how well they handle against unarmored infantry. IS armored infantry, IMHO, is not yet that severe enough of a threat to the Clans that they have to worry about it instead of regular grunts.
Otherwise, this is a sound design. A bit of a heat-hog, but I would wager that most older gamers won't be bothered by it.

I agree even a token amount of fluff would help.
And seeing how it's your mech, your fluff would be near bullet proof since you are doing it up for your configuration only.

If I were to put TAG on this mech it would probably cause the mech to be used as a second-line design. I do not think that front-line units use artillery. I could be wrong, though.
As for the infantry, it is best to have something to use against them. If they can get in close enough they can cause some serious damage, even the IS armored types. Especially if someone tries to use them to "kneecap" the mech.
This design is not really a heat hog. Unless you try to alpha strike and jump, which would be pointless and stupid (IMO). Even if you did that, with forward weapons only, it should only overheat by 4 pts. That can be solved by running and firing one less laser the next turn.
This design is not meant to scare any players. It is just a standard Recon/Stike mech. It is used to find and soften up an enemy, that way if it is knocked down, the bigger mechs can win more easily. To make it more dangerous, try adding a star of Eles. to it.
