Well, its very rare that i see a movie opening weekend, let alone opening day, so it is a rare movie that would make me want to go and face whatever crowds are at theatres...and it did deliever, in a way.
The Story:
Millions of years ago dragons ruled the world. Evolution had granted them power over the Dinosaurs, and the world was theirs, until they starved themselves out and went to sleep, and the Earth regenerated...
Cut to the 90s, and the Dragons awake in the middle of our time...at forst no one believes, but soon it is too impossible to ignore as millions of Dragons take to the skies. The world is burned, and Humanity is pushed to the brink of extinction (classic Post-Apocolyptic style).
The movie itself is about a group of people holed up in a castle in England, trying to survive. Problems erupt when a piece of the American Army shows up, and asks for assistance in taking down the dragons.
You can guess how the rest of the movie goes...complete with every hero type imaginable. The movie is pretty entertaining and spins the mystical and powerful dragons in a new way.
The acting was decent for a survival post apoc. world movie, but some of the dialouge was bad and hard to understand. Overall, if you just sit back and watch its a good movie of about 2 hours. I didnt pay full price, and I dont suggest you do either, but its a good mid-day matinee if you can spare the time.
Overall it was prolly a 6-7/10. Decent, nothing special...but entertaining.

I just read Ebert's review. I think I'll wait for the video release, it sounds like a renter.

Hehehe I figured that when I saw the first trailer.
I would like to see them make a movie like this and just wipe out humanity, or make us their puppets or whatever, the same garbage just gets boring.

Is it just me, or do Hollywood movies seem to be getting less original with each release? No matter how many times they come up with a movie, it just seems to be an old plot line placed in a new setting.
And why is it there is never an ending where the heros fail and get their butts kicked?

Its just you. Hollywood has been regurgitating plotlines for a while now.

Because not one wants to pay to see that, except your occasional anime fan.

Thank you...quite right...
Oh, and let's not forget that Hollywood has put out some movies without (real) happy endings...Phantasm and Seven come immediately to mind...Fallen also didn't really have a happy ending...Devil's Advocate too in many ways...even From Hell...
Hmm...those last four are some of my favorite movies...

Is 'Seven' worth seeing? I've heard mixed reviews about it, and I never went to see it or rent it.

Oh...my...god...
I'm not sure I should be flying tomorrow...
Cadet and I agree on something...
Seven is a VERY movie...
You should've seen the commercials they had for it in Japan...
Ruger (yes, my fansubbed copies of the Vision of Escaflowne tv series had commercials on them, and in just about every break, they were advertising for Seven)

Seven sucks. The defeatism of the ending just rubs me the wrong way.

Count me as another vote for Se7en.
I wouldn't call it a "great" movie, but it's very good.

There's a whole troop of us down in So. Cal. (the part of the state with good taste ).
We're not totally opposed to Seven, though. Whenever we're like "hey man, wanna wallow in despair and hopelessness tonight?", one of us might say "sure, let's break out Seven." But as it turns out we never really want to wallow in despair and hopelessness.

Good taste, eh? Like Creed?
Its not that So.Cal has bad taste....its that they dont know what good taste is.

Yes, like Creed. What do No. Californians listen to that so great? The Doors?
A land filled with tofu-munching hippies and people who say "hella" is hardly in a place to criticize anyone else on taste.
