My aim for the Mortis was a battle line penetrator, a mech that can dish out as much as it took without too many heat concerns.

I use one of them another like it (kinda) a really spiffy spotter I came up with and a 100 mech basically caring artillary and lrm's for most misions. I use the two like yours to penetrate and take/dish out fire while I work my spotter towards the primary objective.
all the while using my artillary and lrms
carrying mech to fire on the mechs that are are kinda like yours are fighting. then when my spotter gets to primary target I use the artilary and lrms to take it out.

Clanners would NEVER conduct combat in the manner of which you posted. I'm assuming your similar designs are Inner Sphere based Tech, Quaiff?

Neg. Clan Rules of Engagement have changed a great deal since the beginning of the invasion and many lessons were learned in Tukayyid.

If you note the design aspects of the mechs listed in the current TRO 3067, the majority are not only second-line mechs but there are even a few with Artillery-based technologies built into them, technologies which in the past the Clans would not even look at much less implement them.

Let me first say I have no quarrel with your design or it's implementation. However, Sarkkahn's use of a similar design as a spotter for another Clan mech with LRM/Artillery goes against pretty much all Clan doctrine past or present.

Although the Clans may currently refrain from using Zellbrigen , and perhaps treat a lot of IS as Bandits, thus negating dueling protocol, I have never heard of them purposely tag-teaming opponents with specialized mech combinations. (ex: free world's league designing the Anvil and Hammer mechs)

Also the only 3067 mech I saw with Arrow IV was the Bowman which stated it was rare, even in solahma units and second line units, and "vestige of a dead art in clan warfare".

Honor is still a very very important issue to Clan warriors. Much more so now after Tukkayid where much honor was lost. It is my humble opinion that they would not stoop to such a low level to fight as Sarkkahn suggested. It might happen in the mist of a conflict, but I cannot see it as a designed doctrine to follow.

Not only does it go against their grain of honor, but their sense of being superior. Why would warriors who have been genetically breed for war for generations have to "gang-up" on their foes to win espeically with their weapons?

The Clan warrior mindset is alien to what we westerners think today.

There is one clan that was said to have given up the one-on-one tactics, but I cannot remember which. It was either the Jade Falcons of the Wolves.

But I doubt even they would use spotter/sniper techniques.

To the clans, artillery is nothing more then a quick way to demolish a city that they hate.

Well, I for one am glad you did say something. This is after all a forum (mostly friendly at that! ) and people's ideas and input are appreciated.

It's not like you can't do what you want with your games. The rules allow you to design your own mechs with any tech and then smash them into your opponents'. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. It is just a game and you should have fun playing it however you like.

I was just pointing out some guidelines which fit the fictional CBT universe, is was not meant to be overly critical.

Please keep posting, this board can use all the new blood it can get!
