Where? And when? They hold two planets, Terra and their land holds on Gibson...now where are they getting the troops from? Clone labs?

1) There is always someone out there that thinks a group like the Wobblie is right.
2) Agents sent out to "bring in new recruits." Mainly for brainwashing.
3) Gov't agents sent to "watch over" the actions of the group.
And if all those fail, beat the s*** out of someone, lock them in a room, force them to watch Barney and tell them they cannot come out until they understand the "word."

You can collect a good deal of idiots just by telling them they`ll get to fight against whatever they think is wrong by joining. And Terra is probably a good place to recruit from when you think about it. Join today, protect the cradle of humanity from the hordes of the evil Successor Lords! Join today so your mom can keep her house?

But even still that nets you some troops it doesn't give them the millions plus they would need to take on the other houses and hold what they take...plus it takes time to train the recurits and get them ready...

True, but we don't know how long they've been at it. Could you train an army in say...15 years? 10? 5?
Just take a look at what Amaris was able to accomplish. Granted, he had the Rim Worlds to recruit from, but the analogy still stands. He kept a low profile, played lap-dog to the Star League, bided his time, then made his move. He almost pulled it off too.

Even with a lot of time to train an army you still are pushing the limits of funding and total many power.
Even with Terra as the main link for them, WoB doesn't have the resources to take on one major house let alone all of them.
I am sorry but I don't see how this story line can be pulled off with out a lot fudging and back peddeling to support it.

How do you know?
The thing that everyone seems to miss in this whole thing is that WoB does not conquer all of the Houses. They fail. I'm not really sure where this idea of a United Inner Sphere of WoB comes from, but it just isn't correct.
I mean, where did Japan get the manpower to seize most of the Pacific? Where did Germany get the manpower to seize most of Europe and North Africa?
With total surprise as your ally and a well trained and equipped army you can seize quite a bit. Holding on to it, well, that's another story.

I know because the facts as given DON'T support them having a force big enough to take more then a couple of worlds and hold them would be next to impossible since the WoB would be facing well seasoned units.
And seeing how this is about speculation and converstion the whole point is to see what folks think. I don't think can do it, not as they are currently...others feel they can, thus we talk about and both side can give their opinions and try to present the their ideas...so let's get back to that okay?

I think the main point is not so much where are the Wobbies getting their manpower, but where are they denying their foes manpower.
Knock out communications of your foes and you have a HUGE advantage. So what if you only have a couple of companies guarding that planet, no one else knows it. Further you reduce your opponents available manpower to your level or lower.

Well, We don't know. I do know they've been snapping up lots of expired contracts and the sort.
As far as the monetary resources, remember that the "Real" Tommy Marik has had his folks skimming up to 15% off of all FWL military hardware sales. That is a load of change my friend. All that loot floating around could certainly pay for some top notch training facilities somewhere in the Periphery. A couple of pay-off to a local Caliph, and bam! Instant man-power. Multiply this by X number of worlds and you could have a pretty strong force ready to rock and roll.
One thing that you've got to remember is that the vast majority of WoB's Armed Forces are veterans of Tukkayyid. All battle seasoned, well trained zealots. That kind of enthusiasm is infectous. Give each warrior 20 men to train and pretty quickly you've got one hell of an army.
As far as facing seasoned troops? Well, maybe in the Cappellan Confederation and the Draconis Combine. The Civil War has bled the Lyrans and the Fedrats white. It wouldn't take too awfully much to take what you wanted from them. The FWL has way too many internal problems to put up much of a fight. As a matter of fact thier problems could get much worse sometime in the near future. Comstar? Comstar is so full of WoB moles that they're just as likely to continually switch sides as they are to be very effective in thier initial resistence.
The last factor that weighs in is pure, unadulterated evil. WoB doesn't care to what lengths it has to go to realize its twisted version of Blakes vision. When WoB strikes it will be without any semblence of restraint. Every city that is wiped from the map will be rebuilt for the greater glory of Blake. Every orphaned child will be adopted by Blake. Every wounded enemy will be given the comfort of Blake. Every grave that is filled will be done in the name of Blake.
Once the Inner Sphere gets a new taste of Total War, war without any restraint, decency, or limitation, it might not be too difficult to comprehend that the people would flock to anyone that offers a chance at peace.
War is Hell.

heres my take:
where do they get the manpower........ earth [terra] and mars. how can i say this, because one of the biggest things held thru out the history of bt is that earth out grew its ability to hold the population. considering technology levels and how much of the earth we take up, thats alot of people. all of whom are loyal to 1 of the comstar factions.
firepower, again terra. in the span of 1 world you have 5 or 6 major notable war production factories. add to that the 2 or 3 orbital factories for dropship n its like. then add then untold number of space mining facilities, orbital factories, and space habitats.
training, the US Military can train its best soldier in less then 4 years. add to this, the advanced technological testing and training grounds. reinforce the veterans with long term trained soldiers [probly regulars] then further reinforce that with mercs who for 1 reason or another hate somebody out there.
take all that, and toss in the cocktail. timing..... using your moles, disable all the hpg's you can, strike at the unprepared houses, use your warships to target all jumpships, and you get a very well constructed first strike plan. [note: this dosent allow for warships that sneak in system and blow up as many war factories as possible. why capture it, because then you have to hold it. blow it up, then nobody gets it.]
then after all is said and done, the lay of the land is decidedly much different.
btw: 2 to 6 ancient ship yards [destroyed or rendered to costly to repair] lay within 30 light years of terra.

And all of this goes unnoticed by the Houses and ComStar? So how I don't think the intelliegence agences of each house and ROM would have missed a massive build up and a buying of weapons and supplies.
Terra may give them facotries but again, you seem to have forgotten when ComStar pulled out they left behind their own sleeper agents and other covert ops folks, PLUS the people of Terra seem to not be on the best of terms with ComStar or WoB...
Even with battle tested troops as is most of the actual WoB Milita, that is but a small part of the over all force and they can't be every were. The warships you pointed out...who is going to man them? Noivces leaders and Green crews...
But I guess if TPTB claim it can happen then I am sure they have the trees with mechs and men all planted and ready to be plucked...
