I finally got my RB:BC Collector's Edition today! Inside I got a sweet black T-Shirt with Skull One, a holo card type thingy, Some Concept art (which Is really cool) and the game soundtrack which I haven't needed yet because I've been glued to the TV all day. The game is incredible. Excellent storyline (Duh!) and great enemy AI. The only problem comes from the controls for the guardian mode (or gerwalk if you prefer). It seems that they didn't quite have enough buttons for it, but they could have at least given it reverse!!!! Otherwise the gameplay is wonderful, especially shooting down enemy missles. The missions are mostly just do a certain thing, but a little later on you get a few guard this (these) missions that are a major B**** to do. As you gain medals (for things like 100 pod kills) you unlock the next levels, versus levels, and more planes. You start out with the VF-1D (trainer) and the VF-IA (cannon-fodder type) but eventually get some of the sweeter ones like the armored battloid Smile Oh and I forgot the special dogtags that come with it as well. They have the main characters name, product serial number, and the SDF logo. Cheers y'all and happy gaming!

Robotech would be Japanese not French..

If it were French, It would have had 6 reverses and no forward!

Ok so I am a wise guy.. but if you look at some of the WWII era through 1970 era tanks, you'll understand what I mean

Well, I have been looking foward to this game for some time now...not because I am a hige fan of Robotech, but because it looked like a good game. And, well....it is.

Controls are prtty easy to get used to, and the transformations are easy and quick...so you can switch from one to the other without too much hassel.

My only gripe is the missions. I LOATHE any kind of mission where I am defending or escorting. They do not make for fun gameing when used in large quantities...and this game throws quite a few at you. Still...the missions are fun, and a little aggrivating. Just got losing the mission where I have to protect the Civic center...3 times and no success...

Well, if you ever watched the series (which i'm sure you probably have) then you should know that about all they ever did was either escort or defend

only three times on the civic center? try 17 times in a row! Then wait until the Cat's Eye mission. That is a nasty mission. That one took me nearly two dozen times to beat it. And the boss missions are truly ugly. Again, whenever you have allies you have to defend them (or support if you prefer). Yes I agree with the controls they are learned quickly enough, just learn to transform quickly and you'll be fine.

P.S. A good tip for the Civiv Center mission is to stay in fighter mode whenever you can because of it's heavy missles. Otherwise use guardian. Only go to battloid mode if you get turned around in guardian. Missles are a lifesaver.

Which brings me to an interesting point. I dont care how much the series was about defending this or escorting that...it does not make for good gaming. Some missions thrown in like that are okay and excpected. But heavily weighing the game with those missions makes for dull gaming. I havent gotten very far, but all the professional reviews I have seen say that you can pretty much expect the same missions over and over again as you get later in the game. That, my friends, is NOT good gaming.

Anyways...thats my gripe as a gamer.

Well, there-in lies the problem I think. They apparently tried to match it up too much on how the series went. Which, I'm sure that if they didn't, there would be others complaining that it doesn't follow it like it was suppose too.

That's not to say I disagree that too many defensive missions are bad though btw.

Heh, just started playing the game on PS2 the other day. It isn't too bad. It's cool to finally have an actual Robotech game to play. Though I must say that mission with the civic center is a MAJOR pain in the ass. Sorta plays like Armored Core when in battliod mode. Wish the controls could be changed though. I don't like the 2 weapon buttons being on either side. I want'em next to each other so I can plaster stuff with both guns at the same time.

The animation could use a little work too. Those big thick black lines around each of the mecha's look like some of those bad cartoons you see on TV at times. Aside from that, it's pretty good.

The best part of the game, is when you turn the game on for the first time and getting a thrill from hearing that opening theme music from the show! Oh the memories...

The big fat lines are there on purpose. The idea was to get it 3d, but still close to the oirignal show's lines. The cel-shading effect, in my opinion, is awesome, and works perfectly for Robotech.

As for controls...it is a bit akward...but still really good layout (at least on PS2). I kinda like the frantic combat of me going from gaurdian to battleoid mode so i can shoot down missles.

Ok, finally got around to finishing the game. Overall it was fun. HARD, but fun. Though I found the ending rather disappointing. Unexpected, but disappointing none the less.

Oh, and one final beef about the game. That of which being that there's bonus or cheat of some kind that allows you to use the destroids or pods/officer pods. I WANNA USE THE UNSEENS DAMNIT!

I just picked up Robtech: Battlecry since I got a PS2 for christmas. Now everyone knows that I am no anime fan, but I once was into Robotech so I decided to give it a try. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being good), I give it an 8.

The graphics are great and give the feel as though you are actually in the cartoon. The missions are mostly fun, with the exception of the guard-this-doohickey-while-thousands-of-enemies-try-to-kill-it type missions. Sometimes it can be a bit hard, but I don't mind since it forces you to be a better player. The controls are well done.

Some not so good things: I wish they had made it to accept alternate control schemes. There were times when I wanted more of a deathmatch style controller setup, such as for the boss missions. Also, I don't like how they skipped the entire story of the SDF going into space and coming back. You are left out of a large part of the Robotech story.

Overall the game is good, though. If you don't have it yet, I highly recommend it.
