==Overview:==
This design is a disturbing new aspiration of the Outworlds Alliance. Though our Order believes it will be years before construction can even begin, the Alliance is currently the periphery state most likely to field a warship, due both to preference for and experience with Aerospace assets. The acility is planned to orbit Alpheratz, capital of the Alliance. Though the design uses limited technology, it outclasses all other Corvettes in production. In fact, the Alliance has no plans for other Warship designs in the forseeable. They plan to use Autumn corvettes as the basis for their navy, transporting Dropships, fighters and cargo. All with respectable armament and armor. Most disturbing of all, the Alliance may begin selling the Corvettes to the highest bidder.

Very nice. One question, why the MGs?

Wouldn't smallers or mediums be a better choice?

*shrug* Better than AMSs. As I recall from BattleSpace, you can use point defense to shoot down incoming Capital Missiles. I hope that's still true for AeroTech2, otherwise I probably should just use Medium Lasers.

Mainly, this is just a fun design I used for my flag ship in games. And I prefer slugthrowers to lasers.

On an another note; the inspiration for this ship came from the game "Halo" in which the ship is known as the Pillar of Autumn.

Small Lasers and MGs are Point Defense in AT2, Medium Lasers are ranged weapons.

To me I can understand Lasers for PDS, but MGs I can't buy or see being used in Space...

My feeling is just the opposite, after watching so many space shows like Star Trek and Star Wars and what have you, I've gone the other way. I'm kinda sick of lasers. They have no orignalty. And in space, slug throwers are much more effective than on the ground, due to the fact that they move indefinately. (It would be unbalancing, but truthfully, all solid rounds should travel across the board at a set rate of speed, like the missiles.) If for no other reason, I could claim surprise as an excuse to mount the MGs.

I mean, what aero pilot expects to fly up next to a warship and be met by a hail of 7.7mm machine gun rounds? Like to the look on his face.

traditionly, the bt machine gun is thought of as a high speed 20mm vulcan gun. just thought i'd add that.

The heavy cruiser from Halo?!?? Nice one man. What is your take on that craft the Master Chief (the main character you play in Halo) piloted in the end?

Good point...Vagabond.

As for the other, I would like to point out the need for oxygen to fire the MG...and given that MGs are PDS weapons they don't really have any use till the battle moves both side on top of each other...which then puts all the shorter ranged weapons in to reach and tends to push the MG right back in to the PDS role of taking on missiles and such.

um... first karagin. you don't need oxygen in mg rounds to fire them in space. they carry enough oxygen inside the cartredge to fire, and thats all you need [if even that.]

second, the MG's he mounted are intended only to serve as PDS weapons [ie: anti-missile] and there for do not need to have alot of range. anti-fighter is covered by the 14 ac/10's and 64 medium laser... which imnsho is plenty to diswade any but the most determined foe.

now, myself i would have used AMS or SPL's... both PDS, and both kill missiles like nobodies business.

Ah but there is a catch, you are better off with two small laser for the same weight as a small pulse laser, PDS rules state that all PDS weapons automically hit regardless of any modifer to hit all else, things that can affect the chance to hit a target. Overall you are better off with small lasers than with small pulse lasers.

[edite]Do not know why I mixed up the PDS with PDF.

Then they'll be doubly surpirsed when I open up on them with my 7.7mm models.

As for the MC's craft, that's a bomber/fighter called the Longsword (Or is it the Broadsword) and I could make one, but I'd be handicapped by having never played AeroTech/AeroTech2. I was only able to make this because of my experience with BattleSpace.

Got specifications on that craft?
Btw, I am looking forward to Halo 2. I love the first Halo, I even made the end, I was really sad when I saw that Captain was infested. I love the shotgun, it held me through the later parts of the game with my partner. In the early parts, I used the autopistol, I racked up a lot of alien kills with that weapon.

None.

But there is a Halo book titled "The Fall of Reach". At least, that's what I believe it is. I haven't read it myself 'cause I hear it's a real downer. But it takes place right before Halo and has a lot more information than the game.

In what way it is a downer? The Bookstore on the campus has that copy.

Humanites last defense bastation destroyed, all hope lost, Terran Navy annihilated...that sort of thing, but I think we're getting off subject, so if you have any more Halo stuff, can you put it in Off Topic or General Gaming before Chihawk yells at me?
