I bought a loaded it a few days ago and now on a few sites java doesn't seem to be working, which is preventing me from posting on them.

Anyone else use this product and have this problem on sites?

I had Norton Firewall 2002 on my system. All you need to do is temporarily disable it when you go to those site. And it should work.

I'm certainly hoping there are other options because turning off my firewall to be able to post on some websites is not an viable option IMO.

Chihawk, the only onther thing I can think of, other than turning off your firewall temporarily for those sites is to get and try a hardware firewall. I know most routers have them in them, but I don;t know muhc about making your own firewall.

Turning off the firewall defeats the purpose of having one.

True, but if that is the only way you can post or use those sites? Then . . .

Then I shan't be using those sites.

Uninstall Norton Firewall and pick up a free edition of ZoneAlarm off of the net. Its the firewall I use, and I have had no problems with it.

Also not an option as far as I'm concerned.

I figure I must have a setting wrong and am kind of looking for something other than "turn it off".

The only one that would interest you (meaning all of us here ) is CBT.

I get an error saying my IP is not valid.

All of the others use some sort of java that doesn't seem to work with Norton--although I have gotten some feedback saying that issue may be browser related (IE 6.0.2800.11xx)...

Chihawk, I am using Netscape 7.0 on my Dad's computer with Norton's Firewall 2002 running, and I can load up CBT and Log into the MEssage board just fine. So it may just be your browser causing the problem.

Is there a reason you haven't upgraded?

Upgraded to what?

I'm running the lastest (well, as of a couple days ago) IE and have all the updates for Norton (as of this morning).

I don't use Netscape because I don't like the look and it "hangs" far too often
