The first Israeli astronaut, a Colonel and former fighter pilot, just blasted off aboard Columbia.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be "USA launches shuttle, does Israel a favor and takes one of their citizens along."
Israel didn't put anybody in orbit. Right now the only country putting people in orbit is the USA. Russian has the capability, but not the cash and China is very close to being there. They plan to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade. Might reinvent the space race. _________________ The more I get to know people the more I like my dog.

Doubt it. No interest in this country for NASA. Even if China started launching the only way the Space Race would get started again is if China declared they'd put a man on Mars by the end of whatever decade they made the announcement, that MIGHT start some interest. But I doubt it.
People would rather see our money wasted on a tank that we couldn't get out of the United States even if we wanted too.
Or rifles that won't work in the rain.
Or any other project which won't do a damn thing to stop the terrorists threats on this planet but that our esteemed nonelected president says will help with regime change (which won't help with stopping terrorism, which I thought was our stated goal).
