No...no, it's not...

It makes as moronic a political statement as those 50 fools that have voluntarily gone to Iraq to act as human shields against invasion...

I believe that we should despose of SH anyway possible. I believe that terrorism in any shape/form/location must be squashed. I believe in the sanctity of the Office of the President. I consider myself very patriotic. That being noted; that was very funny. I'm not a "Bush guy". Never have been, never will. I still believe that Al Gore should be our president. I do believe that every public figure is going to some political/personal satire against them and that's okay. It keeps everyone on their toes.

I'm a firm believer of "a joke is just a joke".

And that picture my friends is a joke...a joke that's just as funny as all the "Bill Clinton cigar" stunts I pulled.

No...the situation right now is too serious to make such jokes right now...

It's like when I heard a couple of the guys I work with telling a joke the other day...it went something like "Did you hear that they discovered the last four words said on the space shuttle Columbia? Yeah...'Let the _____ drive.' (insert you slur of choice from the crew in the blank)"

I'm sorry...but there are some things and some times when jokes are inappropriate...and this is one of those things and times both...

It seems that some fail to realize that the situation as it stands now can easily and quickly spiral out of control, what with France, Germany, Russia and China (and Belgium, but big wup there) all quickly turning against America and Britain and the rest, unwilling to live up to their promises of mutual support and aid...This could REALLY easily become the next World War soon...

And if you thought the Holocaust of WW2 and the chemical attacks of WW1 were bad, you haven't seen anything yet...people have already been asked to stock up on several days worth of supplies, as well as duck tape and plastic sheets...because this coming war isn't going to be fought just on someone else's soil...we ARE going to be attacked here at home...

Now is NOT the time to make stupid pissant jokes like this...

I may sound like a doomsayer and such, but that is my stand on the issue...take it as you will...

As a member of the military in a NATO country, other than the US or the UK, I have to say some restraint here is in order.

I'm definitely not pro Saddam, nor am I pro Iraq, but, there has to be a bit of clear proof that he's still stockpiling weapons. I believe that he probably is; but, no offence, it's not up to one country to decide to punish him. That should be the job of the UN. That's what the UN is there for. That's what the weapons inspectors are in Iraq for. Looking for proof, which they have not yet found. You may say that's just because he's good at hiding his toys, (Which is probably the case), but you can't just go in guns blazing. It's not a case of globally going in and shooting first, and find the evidence later.

Besides, with Saddam gone, the international community will have to rebuild the country, both politically and economically. I don't believe that many people have thought of that. Besides, the Iraqis are not a cohesive group of people that are going to live happily together with Saddam gone. They hate each other. The Kurds, the Arabs, the Muslims. They aren't going to leave the region very stable, therefore the West is going to have to leave a peacekeeping presence there. And, most of the countries the border onto Iraq aren't very fond of the West.

I'm a firm believer in the military. I've been doing it for nine years now, and am going off to Bosnia in a month and a half. But, I don't want to get home just to be sent to Iraq for what amounts to global 'adventuring'.

If the evidence comes to light that he's doing all the evil things that he's been accused of, I'll be on the front lines with the rest of the boys if I can. But, I want to know for DEAD CERTAIN that there is a very good reason to put my butt, and all of my friend's and comrades into harm's way.

I know that it should be the job of the UN to deal with this. But that is in a world where the UN is run by honest people of high moral character, not by failed European diplomats and corrupt third world nobodys who can find unity only when they are doing something aimed against the United States.

Throughout all this polital stuff with Europe one thing seems fairly clear to me. Most of the leaders of Europe, if not also the majority of their people will admit to no threat against the US until AFTER we lose at least one major city and everybody in it to terrorists, and they'll probably hedge about it even then.

Or to put this in even simpler terms. They all know very well that the first city to get wiped out by terrorism WILL NOT BE A EUROPEAN CITY. It will be an AMERICAN CITY. And since it isn't their necks on the chopping block they really don't care a damn what happens to the Americans so long as our people are doing the dying and theirs are not.

Speaking as an American, I am unwilling to wait until AFTER, we're going to deal with the threat NOW. And if that means being accused of becoming an Empire, so be it. Except for Britain and a very few others, the leaders of the western world have learned nothing at all from WWII and all the evil it contained. They are once again offered a chance to step up and deal with evil before the body count can start piling up, and once again almost all the leaders of Europe are proving themselves too yellow to do so. And it is not our fault that the European nations have worked so hard to castrate themselve in the military dept. leaving only the USA capable of dealing with an overseas threat to peace. It is truly a sad thing to see.

In the end, President George W. Bush said it best right after 9-11. In this war there are no neutrals and we will recognize no national boundaries when we are hunting down our enemies. If you are not with us, you are against us.

The UN has been nothing but against us, as has most of Europe. It is quite right, we haven't been this close to WWIII since the Cuban Missile crisis. Nuclear missiles in Cuba were a direct no-defense possible threat to the lives of every American, as are any weapons of mass destruction in the hands of any madman who has said he hates us. If we have to go to war with whoever to remove that threat to our satisfaction, then that's just tough for whoever doesn't like it.

The UN had their chance something like 14-15 times now to deal with the problem. Now the USA will deal with it. And if you are not with us, you are against us. We cannot afford to tolerate anything less. That's just the way it is.

The thing the UN should do first is get rid of the permanent security council members. Or at least their right to veto anything that comes up. Nothing gets done as long as one stubborn donkey can sit on his behind and shout NO until everyone packs and goes back home.

BTW, the donkey has usually been the US council seat whenever there`s motion for a resolution saying anything negative about Israel. Not that I`d expect the others to allow a resolution to pass if it says something bad about their own doings. Like the Chinese occupation of Tibet, shady French involvement in ex-colonial affairs or the Russian "anti-terrorist" action in Chechnya.

Power corrupts. Simply put, if you have the power to do something and there seems to be no direct cost for doing so, why not do it?
