In a competitive market it is almost universaly true that products must either evolve or pass away, and Btech is no exception. While Btech's storyline is advancing the game itself seems to be entering an area of stagnation. From what I have heard it sounds like there will not be any new equipment released and very little in the way of L2 or L3 rules expansions.
I do not think a game can become a better product and advance itself on fluff alone. So what do you guys think should be released that advances the game (and not fluff)? Scenario packs? TRO's with new vehicle and mech designs? Map sets?
I would like to see more L3 rules for aerospace/conventional fighter use and design. But I doubt that will come to light.

From what I have seen, what we need to do is get more new blood into the game. The more new blood, the more merchandise FanPro should be able to move.
As a result of all the merchandise moving, FanPro might start to get more requests from the fans and as such might be a little quicker to act on them.
The main thing, tho, is that we need to keep playing and keep letting FanPro know what we think of the game. I personally feel that sometime this summer things will start moving again. We the fans just need to help clear the logjams as well.

One thing they are doing and I think is a good move is supporting the Aerotech side of BattleTech more, warship, jumpships, and dropship minis are coming out and should help fans open up into a before overlooked area of gaming fun.

maps, maps and more maps. how about the outside of a dropship or warship hull? how about an underwater city map? how about more island hopping maps? how about some new citytech maps of actual IS cities:new avalon, tharkad, solaris7, outreach, etc....

maybe even a revamping of the basic system to allow for quicker/efficent/varied play.
something to keep the original feel, but update the ageing system.
but then i've been beating this drum forever.
one thing i'd love to see is an OFFICAL battletech computerized board simulator. megameks cool, but its 1] not offical, 2] bulky, 3] difficult to plan egagements with, 4] not backed by big money.
i've been unable to get 4+ players on a reliable game. it crashes, bugs out, or disallows people to connect. i want a game that can support 64+ people on a world wide engagement. do everything from logistics to space combat to ground combat. fight the war as it happens.
but that probibly unlikly. dreams within dreams.

I would settle for a program that would only do ground combat with a tenth as many poeple as you indicated if that is what it took to get things started.

I would settle for one I could play myself, (If I was so inclined to be a loner).

I prefer to play against people and the inclusion of an AI would length the time needed to develope the program. Still it would prove handy to test out new strategies and variants.

The Warship would be ok...but as for the DropShip...that would not work if you keep it the same scale as a normal map, at least if you are using 'Mechs...most DropShips would fit on 2 to 4 hexes on a normal map...a few reach out to 8 or 10, but that's about it...

Yeah, a metal map board, with magnetic minis! Travel battlebetch, found in the same aisle as travel connect four, and travel battleship!
You're a marketing genius!

How about making the board itself magnetic? It'd be easier to do that and package a small magnet in with each mini than it would be to have to start making the minis out of something that's actually magnetic (pewter and ralidium aren't magnetic IIRC, but lead is).

Yeah, I was thinking the inside of a dropship more for battletroops or mechwarrior, when I lumped it into the outside warship hull sentence. perhaps battletech rules using just infantry/battlearmor squads/points. The hex scale could be the same as that used for solaris7 dueling rules rather than the 30 meter hexes.

I always thought a sheet metal brown hex board with magnetic terrain pieces would be a good idea. You would have an endless variety of maps.
