Just thought I'd let the board in on some good news, this morning I passed my driver's test, so I am now legal.
So who should I call before I go out driving? I know most of you would rather be off the road when I drive.

As long as you stay east of the Mississippi or west of the Rookies I feel fairly safe. If you are however ever in between the two I would need a full schedule with times to the quarter hour, route plan, not to mention the decription of any vehicles you would be in control of and license plate numbers.
Congrads man!

Why do you think I fly when I get a chance?
Congrats man! Your first solo trip has to be a date, of course. You know, tradition and all

If you can Merge, then you have one up on the drivers from VA.

Now that's one I hadn't heard. Prolly 'cause no one I know has a pilot's license.

It's more of a pilot tradition. After you get your private license, and are therefore legal to carry passengers while acting as PIC (Pilot in Command), it is tradition to do the "$100 Hamburger" run, usually with a date. This is where you go get lunch or dinner somewhere out of town and fly there instead of driving. It's supposed to impress a girl (guys too, I guess) when you ask her out for dinner, ask her what her favorite restaraunt or food type is, and then tell her that you'll take her to the one about 100 miles away. When she asks "Isn't that a long drive?" you tell her "It'll take us 30 minutes in the air." Etc. etc.
You can apply roughly the same idea to getting your driver's license if you wish. Especially since I know some people that drive so fast that if they hit a small bump they *are* flying...

I had forgotten about that... you are one lucky prince of the undead, I'll give you that.
I was referring to some friends I know here. One that made a very jaded flight instructor scream into his cell phone to a UPS customer service agent "We ain't gonna make it! I'M GONNA DIE!! Oh, wait, nevermind... Anyway, about that package delivery..." while riding with this speed demon.
