Ok, I just got back from seeing this film, and while it's not the classic, I have to say I really enjoyed it...they redid the story to make it more inline with the modern world (since in HG Wells's book, we'd already had WW3 by now, IIRC...been a decade or so since I last read it), and there were alot of in-jokes that really made the movie worthwhile in my opinion...the acting was also fairly decent, and the special effects were superb...the musical score was also well done...

All in all, I found it worth the $3.75 I spent to get in and the approx. hour and a half I sat in the seat (not counting promos)...

Was Guy Pierce's acting good? In the 2 movies I have seen with him (Momento and Count of Monte Cristo) he was superb.

Agreed. The Time Machine was good. The only gripe I had was the ending. I would prefered that the orginal one. But The way the ended this one was very well done.

But it just as well done as the Count was. Both were well worth the money spent.

I disagree. I thought the entire end sequence from the time he got to the far futrue to the end just sucked. It seemed so contrived (people still speaking English 800,000 years from now?) and rushed and implausible (hologram thing).

It's a renter at best.

On the otherhand I was pleasently suprised at Resident Evil. It could have been so much more if they had let George Romero direct, but it wasn't bad a t all. And you do get a Milla Jovich bush shot

while not thrilled by it, i did enjoy the remake.

i like the 'how the world ends'.

and i disagree with cadet, the holomatrix librarian was kick ass.

as for them knowing english, ya, its hard to believe after 800,000 years.

over all- 8

You forgot, They did have their own languge, The Hologram taught them english.

In their first meeting. The girl said that Lex taught them the languge of the old. But most just used their own.

I like the hologram thing, it was pretty cool, but there is no way it could have lasted 800,000 years without maintainence. My laptop needs cleaned up ever 6 months to ir's useless. And that's just software. I'm taking about hardware maintainence.

Yeah, But it was in cased in ICE. and floating in space. It did not have to deal with the wear and tear of the elements here on earth.

Not to mention rust needs air to live and thrived.
