no this isen't a religious post.
Today when I logged on Chihawk tells me about his close call with lightning. said lightning hit not 50ft away from his house and his surge protectors did there job.
well, low and behold i hear rumbling over head. but instead of quickly logging off i convinced myself that nothing was amise. then my father tells me its lightning overhead. i begin logging off but decide to check one last site.
ZAP!
so now i'm 40 bucks and 3 years behind on my computer system. i got lucky, my computer scramed mosdt of the surge safly, but i lost my back-up and storage hard disk in the exchange. all my mp3's, amv's, and system back-ups INCLUDING my win98se cabs are all gone.
so when you hear rumbling or haven't checked your computers power connections for months pay heed to this story.
log off.
and double check that your computers are plugged into the proper protectors. or you might suffer worse then i.

I have long since learned not to tempt the Fates...just about everything I own is plugged into surge protectors.
The 4 that are/were in rooms in the front of my house all were totally smoked, but did their job. Over $10,000 worth of stuff saved by less than $50 worth of equipment.
Great trade, eh?

And a follow up...although unrelated to yesterday's lightning strike the TV in my bedroom died.
So I lose nothing in a fierce thunderstorm and lose a TV on a sunny day....go figure.

And a follow up to my follow up...moved the 21" TV that was in my living room and purchased a 27" flat screen TV.
Is totally incredible...

I know that feeling. When My wife passed away, withing three weeks, the TV in my room and the living room, the Vacuum cleaner, a fan, the can opener, 14 lights, 2 VCRs and DVD player all stopped working.....
Also the Surround Sound system lost two channels....
