Namly what the hell is it? I keep seeing it in HMPro and I cant find a description of it ANY where. I am really just curious what it does.

Blue Shield can be found in the old Unbound sourcebook for the Solaris VII rules...

Basically, it protects the 'Mech it's mounted on from PPC hits, cutting their damage in half...but hits to any of the criticals in the system (and it takes up a crit in each location) will cause the whole system to fail, and does around 5 points of damage or so (going by memory here) to that location...

Ahh Interesting. Its an interesting concept. I might have to try it out just to see how it works. If it is something that is combined with Hardened armor you could have a devestating mech on your hands.

(now if Hardened just wasnt so dang heavy)

I tried something /really/ unusual. I selected the Blue Shield Project checkbox in HMPro, and hit the F1 key. This is what I got:

Quote:
The Blue Shield Project, as outlined in the FASA publication Unbound, reduces the damage done by PPCs to one-half the normal damage. It occupies one crit in each location. Every time the shield is activated, on a 2d6 roll of 2, the system overloads, destroying all the shield locations and inflicting 5 points of internal damage on each of the 'Mech's locations. The Blue SHield Project is considered Level 3 and is only available to the Inner Sphere.

Unfortunately, you aren't alone. I write a 60,000 word help file, and no one reads it! Wink

Hehe Ok. That is a cool feature. But it really dosent say what it does. Just that it explodes on a roll of 2. I was asking HOW it works and what uses it may have.

Don't know how it works. You shouldn't even be asking such questions when we're dealing with BattleTech

As for uses, how about fighting an assault unit with lots of Awesome mechs?

Sure it does. It says it reduced PPC damage by half, that's what it does. What else were you looking for?

Ah yes... the end-user... the bane of all programmers! most people never read the help files. The only time I ever peak at them is when I'm completely stuck. But it is frustrating. That's why I usually never worry about help files until the very end, if at all.

Until then, stop by the HeavyMetal forums, we have a good time there too. Wink

In fact, some (of the more annoying) posters here, also post there.
