Hi all,
as i want to create a scenario for playing CBT with MW: DA figures, using record sheets from CBT RS: MW DA 1, stock# 10983, i want to know your opinion about the units i have selected for the Clan and the IS side of the battle:
Clan:
Pack Hunter 3
Koshi
BE701 Joust Medium Tank
Advanced Clan Battle Armor
IS:
Legionnaire LGN-2K
Centurion CN9-D3D
Scimitar MK2 Hover Combat Vehicle
Hauberk Assault Battle Armor
MfG, MEX
PS: Even as the BV of the IS units is 258 points lower as the BV of the Clan units, i consider replacing the Centurion with a Panther PNT-12K to lower the advantage of the IS units which have a higher WV and more total Armor pts than the Clan units.

Actually, you may want to keep a closer eye on BV than that. IOW, beef the IS side up slightly. Maybe a chunkier tank.
The reason is that MWDA functions differently; different equipment is more or less useful when compared to CBT.
That setup is a pretty close match because of the speed the Clan side has (which is more valuable in CBT than MWDA) so you could just stick with this lineup and play on a larger board. IE 2 by 2 maps should give those 2 Clan Mechs a lot of room to use their ranged weaponry.

| I intend to play with the CBT Miniatures Rules, stock# 10982, which have on page 54 and 55 rules for playing with MW: DA figures and Tabletop Rules without mapsheets.
The playing area is at least 1.2x1.2 meters

PS: the Legionnaire has a speed of 7/11[14]/7, which is the same as the speed of the Pack Hunter !

Using the DA stuff in a miniatures game instead of the lead stuff is really no different, except that it's on a slightly bigger scale. I did a game using the stuff before and it worked fairly well. It's interesting to use the bigger stuff sometimes. I actually used those old exosquad/robotech toys and some even older dugrum stuff too so i could include some old unseen mechs in the game too rather than just the new MWDA junk Size-wise, they fit almost perfectly too strangely enough

| Except that MW: DA figures use different firing arcs, according to page 54 of the CBT Miniatures Rules !
And because of their size, you have to use larger obstacles for partial cover and LOS !
As MW: DA uses the same size as type N train models, you easily can get people & cattle, houses, trees, trains & railways, cars & streets, ... in the same size as your MW: DA figures

That's while playing using the Mini rules...if you use them using the level 2 rules there is no difference....

| Why should i use MW: DA figures to play CBT on Hex ?
CBT lead minis and MW: DA figures are only needed when you have to determine LOS and partial cover in games with mini rules
By the way, i already told you that i intend to use mini rules ! Cant you read ?

Cool. Pretty good size field. Some terrain (which you seem to have) could make that an interesting bout.

True, but that leaves a Koshi. The problem is that those 2 Mechs can hang back, thus forcing the Pack hunter to seperate from the Centurion, at which point it can get mugged.
The alternative is keeping the Hunter close to the Centurion, to guard it's flanks, but that kind of defeats the speed advantage it has.
The tanks can make a difference, but it'll be hard to deploy the infantry since there's no OmniMechs on the field, technically. Since DA rules makes infantry a LOT faster than it is in CBT (or Mechs/vehicles slower, whichever you prefer) that may be a problem.
And a LR shelling game will be won by the Clan side on the size board you're playing unless there's a huge amount of terrain.
Of course, there's no guarantees, but if the players are equal in skill, I'd put my money on the Clan group. Should be fun though, tell us how it went.

Yes, I know they aren't the same size of the lead figures. I stated as such. And the second comment was in reference to the exosquad and dugrum toys I was also using with the DA stuff.

I would first like to say that, with the later sets out, there are transports for the infantry. Both VTOL and ground. And second, to think there are NO Omni's in the DA universe is just silly. Of course there are. There are far to many out there for them to be completely gone by then. It's more that you just will never see any mech actually used AS an omni in a DA game because that would likely require customizable Dials, which I doubt would ever happen. If you look at the info on the dossiers of some of the units, some are actually exactly the same as their CBC counterparts. Not all the designs are new variants. In anycase, this is probably not worth getting into anymore than I probably already have

The answer should be "why shouldn't you".
I've seen people use just about everything you can think of to proxy mechs, so why not MWDA figures...

| Obviously you are playing BT only with HEX
If you play with Miniatures Rules, you need the original Mechs because of LOS and Partial Cover !Quote:

| The Scenario is Clan against Inner Sphere !
So the Legionnaire is teamed with the Centurion and the Packunter with the Koshi
