played in the Faction War for MWDA?
It was my second time playing the game (and the first playing with the actual rules)...very interesting game, I thought...I still mostly prefer Classic BattleTech, but MWDA is good for quick games that'll still give you 'Mech on 'Mech on vehicle on infantry action...
I also learned that it's not a good thing to push Ken Roos's Warhammer IIC (Stormhammer unique) or to have it fired on by an energy weapon...that first click of heat gives you a shutdown chance, and I failed it both times yesterday (once when I pushed him, once when he was fired on by an energy weapon)...the Highlanders actually won at the location I played at...and I got myself the Limited Edition Stormhammer Atlas...and some judicious trading allowed me to more than double my Stormhammer forces, and increase my Bannson's Raiders forces slightly...
So, if anyone else played, how'd it go where you were at?

Despite MWDA's nomination in a "toy" catagory it is indeed a game.

My niece plays MWDA. A lot of her friends do too. That and the D&D type thingy. Its an interesting system, and quick, but I don't think I like it in comparison to classic BattleTech. For one thing, I like the ability to modify units cause it can be a nasty surprise for your opponent.
So I don't know. One thing I don't like is the fact that you don't know what you're buying. But hey, the game can be fun.

Spent some money on the first stuff that came out. I have not purchased anything since before the first expansion slot. Myself and two buddies played around with it and had fun but it is not something we are going to sink lots of $$$ into.
If there was more organized play in our area we might, but seeing as we are out in the boonies...

Figured you'd do that...
Anyways, while I agree that I like CBT more, as I said previously, when you look at it as a version of BattleForce with miniatures, then it becomes more palatable...and besides, IMO, any BTech is better than no BTech, and this is the first gaming I've gotten in in months...
I also admit that I don't particularly like the collectible aspect, but it's the only BTech stuff in my general area that I can spend money on without having to drive at least 2 hours away or ordering online...
Plus, I've found the game can be fun on its own merits...sure, you can't mod the units per se, but despite that, it's fun...not to everyone's taste, sure...but no game is to everyone's tastes...

You know I just got hit with the humor of the situation I have created for myself.
I absolutely HATE the collectible aspect of MWDA and it's further releases. In line with that I originally got started with BTech because all you really needed was a copy of the rules, a pen and paper. The funny part is I collect everything BTech [The Classic stuff] which is a non-collectible game, yet I refuse to collect MWDA.
I suppose the true root is how much you like the game. I love Classic BT, but I only enjoy MWDA.

It's scary to see yourself do that.

No, it is not.
MWDA is a game that is played with the Battletech game universe and it is not CBT as it shares no game mechanics at all with the board game, which is what this board is for. As such MWDA goes in "General Gaming".
AeroTech (including AT2 and BattleSpace) and Battletroops are additions to CBT to be used in conjunction with it and would be discussed in General Discussion as they are meant to be used with the board game.
The CCG has it's own forum so topics related to that go there.

So, BattleForce would also go into General Gaming then?

MWDA belongs in General Gaming, the CCG belongs in the CCG forum...the rest belongs in General Discussion.
