Ok...just got back from this movie a little while ago...AND IT ROCKED!
From the opening to the closing, it was a worthy successor and "closing" chapter to the Matrix saga...some might disagree, saying that the fight with Agent Smith was a let down...they're wrong, IMnsHO...it was the perfect conclusion to his fight with Neo...and the fight for Zion...oh yeah...
However, don't go to see this one unless you've seen both the first and second movies...information from both is integral to full understanding of this one...but if you have seen both...what are you waiting for?
Go see Revolutions!

I saw it at the 9am Wednesday showing and before anyone accuses me of being a brethless fanboy I work third shift right now. This was an after work activity.
The movie followed the classic heroic cycle, a la Arthur. Once I realized that I knew which segments of the movie to concentrate on. I don't agree with the critic's condemnation of this movie.
I'd say the action sequences in this movie are more down to earth. No less awesome and mind boggling, but less Matrix-y, more bound by physical rules. The heroes too come down to earth. They are more real, more vulnerable and I think that is what bothers most critics.

went and saw it at the 4 PM showing yesterday after noon. It was good, I've got only 2 things to say.
1. The Director(s) have watched a bit too much DBZ.
2. It was extremly predictable.

Just got back from watching it. It was very entertaining. Fight scenes just seem to be getting more and more elaborate with every movie. I liked it, but I still won't buy the Matrix DVDs. Now, Lord of the Rings: RotK. I'm dying for that to come out!!

Same here...I also want to see The Last Samurai...that movie looks like it will either be EXTREMELY good, or EXTREMELY bad...I'm not sure it's one that can be in between...
As for the Matrix DVDs, I have the first one, but I still haven't gotten Reloaded...and what worries me most about Revolutions' is that the Battle for Zion won't translate well to the small screen...

I agree that the fight scenes are best on the big screen... therefore I need to buy a new TV!

It's gotten to the point where movie ticket prices are so ridiculous, that the only time I ever go see them at the theatre is when it's a movie I REALLY REALLY want to see or I manage to go during the matinee hours when I only have to pay $6/ticket.
Other than that, I'd just rather wait a few months until it's out on DVD. Sooner or later, ticket prices are gonna be $15/ticket. Can anyone think of another industry where the price of the product you buy has increased at such a rapid rate?

I just saw Matrix Revolutions last night, and to me it seemed pretty mediocre. Its kinda sad that the Matrix series started as a sci-fi film with unique perspectives on reality and identity, and ends as a bland save-the-world story with regurgitated fight scenes. Even worse is that a lot of the emphasis was taken off the characters of the first two movies and placed on side plots that were not integral to the original storyline. Morpheus did a lot of nothing in this film, and the story didn't need the plot of the faithful newbie who saves the day.
What's also disappointing is the lack of involvement of the movies namesake - its called "Matrix", not "Zion." Sheesh, IMO they never should have had the invasion as part of the plot.
Lastly, some parts of the movie were not well though out. Apparently the robot's main strategy was to form themselves into tightly packed groups so they could be easily shot. If they wanted to kill the humans why didn't they just pop a nuke down into Zion, or at least some of the bombs used by the squiddies?
Don't get me wrong, Revolutions is an okay movie. The special effects are good and it has some interesting parts. Agent Smith has come through as the most interesting of the characters, IMO, its just too bad Hugo wasn't allowed to do more with him.

Well I have to agree with Mordel about movies. I have to REALLY REALLY want to see it for me to drop $8 a ticket for a night showing. ($5.50 for Matinee).
As far as the Matrix goes I was never that impressed with teh first one. The special effects were great but story wise it just felt like a "terminator ruled universe and this is our glimpse of it". Ill eventually see them when they are both out on DVD and $.99 rentals at Blockbuster.
