Hi all,
for our Clan Campaign, see http://www.commandohq.com/EventInfo.asp?Action=View&EID=859 for more details, i have substituted the weapons of a standard Jenner II c ( 2 SRM6 + Streak4 ) with the energy weapons i usually prefer in my mechs:
Instead of a SRM6 my variant has 2 ERmediumLaser in each arm.
Instead of the Streak4 my variant has a ERlargeLaser in the Center Torso.
Additionaly i have moved the 4 JumpJets from the feet into the side torsos to minimize the risk of critical engine hits.
With a speed of 9/14/7 and a maximum Weapon Heat of 32, this variant is a bit too hot for the 10 DoubleHeatSinks, but i wanted to minimize the differences to the original Jenner II c, even as i usually prefer more armor than the 67 points the Jenner II c has.
I considered replacing the ERlargeLaser with more armor, and maye 1 or 2 DoubleHeatSinks in the feet, but i think that with Clan technology, especially pulse lasers with targeting computer, i need the long range of 25 hexes.
What is your opinion about my variant ?
I intend to qualify at least for Star Commander with my mech
PS: Maybe i should replace the 4 ERmLaser with 2 mPulseLaser
This would lower the maximum Weapon heat and rise the chance of hitting my opponent after jumps.

I would go with the pulses as you might as well fire the ER LL at close range was well and not totally waste it.

As i am only allowed to play the original JennerIIc, i have abandoned our clan campaign at all
Currently i experiment with 2 versions of the JennerIIc:
One with 2 ERmL in each arm and a Streak4 in the CT,
the other one with a mPulseL in each arm and a ERlL in the CT.
As i hate the weapon-mix of the original JennerIIc, i either try to simulate the original IS Jenner as close as possible or create a all energy-weapon version which reflects my personal preferences.

Actually the original original design for the Jenner had a LL in the CT, but there was some kind of problem with it so the Kurita engineers came up with the duel MLs in the arms and the SRM 4.

| I assume it was running MUCH too hot !
Even with a SRM4 instead of a LL in CT the 3025 Jenner is hard to keep cool as you have to use the JumpJets often to compensate for the weak armor

| And that is the reason for the JRF-7F version that drops the SRM-4 for 3 more tons of armour it still runs a little warm but now it has enough armour to survive.

|
| Thats why this mech is my favorite 3025 mech
This light mech is able to win against most medium mechs in a duell

That is my favorite level 1 too I kicked serious but in a Solaris league 5 years ago with one had a 10-2 record with an assassin and an enforcer amoung my kills I fought them when I could not get another light for an opponant.
