All I have to say as Commander in Chief and as a PR move, flying into Bagdad by President Bush shows the man is a cowboy with brass balls. I can imagine the shock of the men at the mess hall to see the CnC.
AWAD- any bets he had enough escort to waste most countries Air Force?

I'd say that's a safe bet.
Despite the obvious political motivations that may be behind it I think it was a great thing to do.

You can be quite certain that the service people really appreciated what he did,and since it was a sneak-in there was probably little air cover so as not to give away the fact that this was an important arrival.I am waiting for the inevitable temper tantrum from the Democrats, who are more than willing to endanger our people over there to get at George Bush so visceral is their hatred of him.But the truth of the matter is that he sent a message to our troops loud and clear. He gave up Thanksgiving with his family to be with the troops.

It was a long flight too. He stopped over in Las Vegas at my casino for a rally on the 24th, he has probably been in the air since then.
Talk about a chore. a week and a half of listening to secret service say "you guy's security isn't as messed up as most of the places we go to " or have a bum turn out to bee and undercover FBI guy checking you out. Shesh, not to mention all the games you have to play. "the president's visit in 3 weeks is confidential." "do not tell people when the shift changes." "This extinguisher has to go, we need this locker for a chem sniffer." " We are federal, local fire codes do not apply on THIS floor"
Come to think of it, he is a moving airborne target flying an unknown schedule. Perhaps Intell heard a rumble and wants to have the Pres. safe but in contact? The airports and transit areas are going to be packed with holiday traffic for awhile. with everyone out in public space, a bomb would have a good chance of heavy damage. It seems these terrorists love to operate on holidays.

Our president is a very interesting guy.
He has a real connection with his troops, probably the closest connection in my lifetime.
His domestic agenda is lacking, but isn't nearly as bad as it is made out to be. Considering the circumstances of his election, I am amazed he actually gets anything through Congress.
He is a Cowboy, who shoots from the hip, and eventually is going to pull the wrong trigger. Until then though, he is going to make alot of the folks who don't have our best interest at heart sleep a little less comfortably. Some of those folks who do have our best interests at heart may sleep a bit uncomfortably also .

I was talking with Ronin about this on Thursday and he said that the FAA was telling everyone that (as usual with a Bush trip to Texas) a lot of the air space would be restricted, so apparently either the FAA didn't know about it or were given strict orders to carry on as normal.
As it is, I heard that not even Bush 41 knew what was going on; Bush's mom didn't hear about it until 3 days prior and his wife didn't know until 1 day prior.
See the footage? Bush was in the serving line giving out the sweet potatoes. Now what does that yell you all about him?

Which casino is yours? Next time we go down maybe we'll stay there.

It tells me he has a good sense of PR. Doesn't change the fact that he's a crass, self-serving moron. Still, you gotta give it to him going over to Iraq himself; I'm sure at least some of the troops got a bit of a kick out of it. At least it wasn't as bad as that carrier landing back in May...can anyone say "Hey, look at me...my daddy bought me a cushy job so I didn't have to go to Vietnam, but now that it's my turn to send poor people off to die in Iraq, I'm gonna play soldier." My apologies to anybody who likes the guy, but any mention of G.W. usually has me seeing red.

Venetian. You know the one with the Gondolas, and guys in the cute little stripped shirts and beribboned hats that sing, and stroke. It is where the sands used to be.
Go ahead and come on down. The holidays are usually the slow season for a month or so. We have the Amway flocks in right now.

Me and Vagabond are at opposite ends of town, I think we are the only ones that are active on the internet.
