I recently was involved in a duel which pitted a Marauder-D vs. a Thunderbolt-S. Anybody who likes playing with heavy metal should try this matchup; it makes for a brutal fight. I'm not going to reveal who won at this point, as I'm curious to see what people are going to predict.

Big fan of the Thunderbolt, pretty much every varient. The Steiner PPC/SRM strays from the original design but I still like it. T-bolt and the Shadow Hawk are my two fav all time Mechs (Grand Dragon coming in a close third)
I give the nod to the T-Bolt.

I'm a fan of the Thunderbolt too, but it will be hard pressed against a Marauder. Unless it manages to manuever the Mad into close range it's toast, sorry. I've seen it before.

T-Bolt all the way, especially if these are 3025 'Mechs. The T-Bolt has the better heat curve and once they get into optimum range, it really shines.
GO T-BOLT!!!!!

A vote in the Marauder camp.
The D Marauder is a beast, and can definitely go toe to toe with the Steiner T-Bolt, which'd gain little when it closes. Except maybe it's punches.
But it'd receive 15 point kicks in return.
The JJ's would matter, but I still give a slight edge to the Mad-D.

I'll keep a running tally in this post and edit as needed.
Thunderbolt S: 3 votes
Marauder D: 4 votes

The Marauder D is a mean mad machine. One big difference between the two is ammo. For that reason alone the Marauder has the edge. BOOM!

Mud-sama, I have always had a sentimental attachment to the MAD-3D, my "first" battle (way back in college) was in a Marauder.
First time I rolled the dice to hit was for both PPCs. Both hit the FT of my opponent melting the armor off and hitting the Internal structures in one turn!
My vote goes to the Marauder.

I know the T-Bolt S very well. This is one of my favorite designs, hell all T-Bolts rule. I think one of the best period. I do not know the Marauder-D at all, but sounds like it runs cool. Terrain would be a major factor, jumping 4 and an SRM6 plus a host of MLs can hurt. The armor should be enough to keep it alive. So without knowing the Marauder -D better I will have to go with the T-Bolt. But this would be a close and brutal battle.
AWAD- T-Bolts, not the hammer but the anvil

Tech 1 Marauder-D has 2 PPCs, 2 MLers and 1 LLer, with 20 heat sinks...

Just as a clarification, the Steiner Thunderbolt does not mount jump jets; that's the Eridani Thunderbolt.

When I ran this match the Marauder came out on top, but literally only by the luck of a single dice roll. It makes for a really interesting match.
