My Son, Hambone, Played his first game of BattleTech. He scored a Head-shot with a Gauss Rifle thru 2 woods at Max Short-range while I was behind him....

He in a Sunder and I in a Shootist... Now I'm 0-4 in that damn Mech....

I'm very Proud of him.....

Was he piloting the Wolvie or the Marauder? It sounds like you might have a Lyran on your hands.

I know how you feel. My son is only 2 so I have been concentrating on teaching him about swords. Wargames will come later.

-Mud : heavens I hope not. He was in the Marauder 3R and I'm in the Wolverine -6R

Oafman, My son has been learning about swords since he could walk... Medieval Re-enactors must pass on what we know...

The end came last night and the Wolverine knocked out the Marauder...

The tallies were Marauder had 10 points of armor up front, no left leg and 6 head hits... He was rolling like a demon... He made 5 consciousness checks…
The Wolverine had 25 points up front, no Right or Left arm, No Right Torso. I was winning the initiative a lot but that’s about it…

My son has started picking it up naturally after seeing all those fighters out at the events we go to. I just cannot wait to see his reation when I finish my armor and he sees me fighting for the first time.

Historical Armed Combat Association:

~ I Belong to a Medievil ReCreation Group also, we use "Quarter Round" rules for our weapons, unless the entire group agree's to use live steel [demonstrations and so on].

I personaly like to use either a Mourning Star [Nubs instead of Spikes] and Shield, or two short Blades. If I can get my hands on one, i would use a Claymore, or English Greatsword.

My Armor consists of several layers of cloth and large rings sewn onto it. Ring Mail essentialy.

Ah Havoc, I understand completely, as my own son is only 3 months old.

But you know, he's still loads of fun to play with, even if Peek-A-Boo is about all he's interested in.

If you do make it to Pennsic stop on by, I am only about 3 hours away. Sadly though I am not able to make it there due to a lack of availble vacation.

As to the ?HACA, in our fighting we use rattan instead of live steel. Much safer that way. My armor is a mix of steel plate, hardened leather and the non-period but cheaper and lighter barrel plastic.
