Ok favorite weapons from each group, ballistic, energy, and missile. I prefere the LBX-AC10 best ballistic out their, for Energy i love the Medium Lasers, good damage, not bad heat and low tonnage, For missiles i usually go for either the LRM-15 or the SSRM-6. Both Nice damage to ton, without too much ammo eating! Like the LRM20.

Ballistic: LB-20X.
Missle: LRM-15s
Physical: Sword.
Tactical: Speed.

hmmm, if i was to go for a physical i usually prefere the Sword, more elegant. For tactical i go for speed, speed, speed, so my favorite mech is the Daishi. But Nothing beats running rings around the enemy, I love playing on MW4 and Running rings around the feet of an Atlas with the Uller, and i beat it everytime. Although i do like a good death from above occasionally!

the thing is that I have never had the opportunity to play with a mech with a sword or hatchet before.

Hatchet and sword mechs are fun. Theres nothing like walking up to your target and bashing the hell out of it. Kind of like the high school-pay to baseball bat a car-fund raisers.
Lets see....
Ballistic weapon: LBX with cluster ammo.
Beam Weapon: pulse laster
Missile weapon: Clan LRM 10
Tactic: Devastating retribution.
I like the ability of the cluster LBXs to wear the armor off the target, thus incraseing the chances of another weapon to puncture the armor. Its also useful against infantry.
Pulse lasers are good for a nice in close beating, and the inherint accuracy doesnt hurt, either.
The clan LRM 10 is probably the best 'middle of the road' missile system. Not too heavy, doesnt take up much space, deals a fair ammount of damage even at point blank range.
As for the tactics. Hey, I dont screw around. Get in, pound em till they either surrender or are glowing slag, and move on.

For ballistic I'm an LB-20X fan. Love the damage potential as well as all those shots at a critical once you open 'em up. Always carry at least 2 tons of each type.
For energy it's the Medium Laser. Can't ask for a better damage to weight ratio.
Missile would have to be Streak SRM-4. The Streak 6s are a little too bulky in my opinion. You can fit more 4s on there and you don't require much more in terms of ammo since you only use it when you acquire target lock.
I saw a few people put physical weapons. My favorite physical weapon is my foot.

I am kind of old school when it comes to weapons.
AC20
ERPPC
Sword
As I have said before, I love the reaction on an opponents face when then remember that all 20 points go to one spot on the ac20.

That's good except the ERPPC and the Sword are not old school. If you had said PPC and Hatchet, then ok. But both of those are fairly modern weapons.

I meant old school on the ac20.
The erppc and the sword are middle-tech so they are gradually becoming old school.
