So, we've talked about it, now, we show it off.
You have 50 million C-bills to build a Mech unit. This is a Star if you choose Clanner, or a Company if you go to teh Inner Sphere.
If you want a better challenge, pick a house and only use 'generic' or 'house-specific' mechs (IE, no Jenners for Steiner, no Vindicators for Davion) or, if a Mercenary unit, no LosTech at all.
But the latter part is much, much harder. 
I'm curious what you'll come up with.

Probably whatever tech you can get for 50 million C-bills? That's not too many mechs with XL Engines if you build an IS company. The Clanners can afford it, except Clan Doom Munchkin that refuses to build such a puny unit.  50 mill is the price of one of their assaults, and that's all they use.

Not a great company, but one that can cover most of the missions
assigned to it.
The Recon lance is designed to hunt down and kill other light lances
The Fire Lance is set up to deliver long range harassing fire, as well as
close in direct laser fire.
The Command Lance is the big thump, armed with PPCs and Large Lasers,
and with enough armor to stick around to see what happens.
This was done fairly quickly, but then again I mostly use 3025 or 3050 mechs so I had fewer choices than most.

All 5 mechs he picked are right around 10 mill so yeah it should be 50 Mill or less..

A Steinerist groundpounder mech company designed for general troublemaking. Perhaps not the best, but supply is simple. And anyone engaging them at short range is a fool.

This is a lance I rolled up on a custom roll chart a buddy of mine made. Didn't do too bad, the only slow one is the BlackHawk, and it's a fire support variant so it worked out.
