The ultimate humiliation,
I managed to destroy an Atlas AS7-K with.........Wait for it........
A locust!!!!!!!! He he he!

Ok really high modifiers and a few lucky head shots, still. Very pleased with myself, especially since the Atlas was the crux of my opponents plan

Hehehehehe. I like it. That ranks up with popping my opponents Assault Mech with an AC/2 on the first round. CT possible crit, got 2 gyros. Then I just stayed away and pasted it from a distance.

That reminds me. I was piloting a 3025 Vulcan on recon. I ran into a trio of scout hunters(Valkyrie, Scorpion, and a Clint). I traded some shots at long range and took off running. I noticed they were herding me when they flanked me and forced me to either enter a narrow mountain pass or engage them at medium to close range. Suffice to say I ran for the pass knowing it was an ambush. Sure enough when I rounded a bend there was a Dragon behind partial cover. We were 17 hexes from each other and the Dragon fired his LRM 10 and his AC/5. I knew I had to run the gauntlet to get free so I fired my AC/2 at him. I took a hit in the LT with the AC/5 and the LRM missed. My AC/2 hit him in the head and he rolled a 2 for his consciousness roll. I laughed my butt off and my friend cussed. I ran full speed and he failed again to make his roll. I was firing on him as I passed. He made his third roll but I was just past him. He turned and got some good shots on my rear torso including a couple crits that destroyed my AC/2 and two jumpjets. I managed to outpace the Dragon and got into some woods. Glad there wasn't a plain or watershed on the otherside of the pass or I'd have been toast.
On a side note.....when he rolled for the crit location the die fell off the table. If we would have counted it as it lay on the floor he would have hit my AC/2 ammo and I would have been a crispy critter.

I have an odd custom of an ATlas that has 2 Ultra AC-5s on it. The very first round of firing I popped my opponents head with one of them at almost maximum range. He had to keep it on the out skirts of the fight the rest of the game. When he did finally bring it in to do an alpha strike I got to more head hots 2 turns in a row by med lasers on my light. It tooke me three shots but killed an Assault with just head shots and very little body damage.

Isn't it great how you can turn a battle completely with just one lucky shot? Its one of the only games that allow such dynamic chance i know. And i've played alot of games.

P.S its the modifiers that make battletech so great, i cant think of any other game which accounts for so many possibilites and thus realism.

That is why I like the twin Ultra 5s on my Atlas. Nobody expects an Atlas to hit them that far out with anything other than the LRM. They make it a great lance mate in most terrains. The fast guys lure the other lights into the new extended range of the Atlas and together they cream them.
