Fox stumbles in through the door covered in grease, and heads over to the message board, pinning up a small note before heading over to his usual spot at the bar and passing out, snoring on the counter. The note reads (through the mynomer grease):

"To all 'Mech Desigers:

Well, that Hatchetman is finally in pieces, and set up with my NADU system. Unfortunately, I still haven't got a clue what to put on the darn thing. I am plagued by indecision. I heavily considered trying to turn in into an Omnimech, but decided that was well outside my means. So...instead I'm going to ask for some designs from you guys. Of course, seeing as how I operate with limited material, there are some conditions you'll need to abide by. That said, here we go... (And is my usual custom, you'll notice the list is out of order, putting number 2 first.)

2) I sort of sold the old engine, and currently have only one good engine here. It's a 225 GM Light model. It'll give me a decent power curve though.

1) I can't replace the internal structure...considering all the other things I've had to do, it's just too darn hard. Plus I'd need all the bones special made.

3) I have both standard and ferro armor lying around, but only standard mynomer. I have plenty of standard heatsinks, double heatsinks and weaponry. Also plenty of jump jets.

4) You don't have to keep the hatchet if you don't want to, but we'll need to change the name without it. You can't name a 'Mech a Hatchetman and then have no hatchet. Personal opinion there.

5) And the last thing...there is one small bit of equipment you need to design around...the NADU system. This system weighs a half ton, and takes up two criticals...one in the head, and one in the center torso. It's already installed, and I couldn't move it anyway, so you'll just have to design around it.

So there you have it. If you feel like offering up some designs, go right ahead. If not, that's cool too.

-Joseph "Fox" Garbo"

OOC: This might go in Design Submissions...but as it was in character, I felt it might fit better here. If I'm wrong, may Lurch hurl me through the door and not the window at least.

OOC: This sounds interesting, but so that I can really design the mech around the NADU, um, what is is? (you can of course, just direct me to the correct posting).

IC: Feeling good about his new private's bar, MechWarrior Matt "SaberDance" steps into the bar. He shoots the "gun and wink" signal to the bartender. Hmm. I don't know if he saw that. Better do it again...

He sees the greased up Colonel "Fox," who he's read about, posting something on the message board. He walks over.

"Hmmm. A hatchetman. I haven't seen one of these since before the snakes stole the design. The Axeman, now there's a design you don't want to stick up in a dark alley in a city. Endo steel, light engine, good, I hate XL designs. They make the mech a giant titanium coffin."

The new private finishes reading the memo.

"A quest! A ha! I shall endeavor to outperform. It'll be just like old times. Now, just as soon as I find out what NADU is..."

OOC: Sir Henry will kill me if I keep using his character. Anyway, the system descrambles the neural patterns of people who have suffered brain damage, allowing them to pilot 'Mechs.

IC: Sir Henry hands Sabredance a small notepad with Fox's notes on it.

An interesting dilema you have there. I am sure if some of these guys in here stay sober enough, they can come up with some interesting designs.

Hmm. I have quite a bit of stuff back at my Scrap-yard on Motown I just sent a load of simian tech stuff over there. There is a guy there who says he can build some interesting things with that stuff. Like he took a the wreckage of a Wasp once put a Cummings diesel in it a stuffed a folding rotor on top and made a LAM that actually flew and got a kill with it . So who knows what he will come up with. But anyways I you want I will look around and see what I can find.

(walks in with part of a myomer bundle over his shoulder, looks around and heads for the bulletin board)
Here we are.
(puts a grease stained piece of paper up on the board and looks around the bar)
That should do it.
( looks at the paper, nods and departs)

The paper reads:
Hatchetman special.
Movement: 5/8/5
Engine: 225 fusion. 10.0 tons.
Heatsinks: 10(20). 0.0 tons.
Gyro: 3 tons.
Structure: EndoSteel. 2.25 tons.
Cockpit: 3 tons.
Jumpjets: 2.5 tons.
Armor: Ferro Fibrous. 8.5 tons.
LRM 10: 5 tons.
Ammo(LRM): 1 ton.
ER Large Laser: 5 tons.
2 medium lasers: 2 tons.
Hatchet: 3 tons.
Beer cooler: 0.25 tons.

Here's the best I could come up with while I worked on my Scorpion.

Actually it was somebody else it is a long story and just the beginning of some REAL craziness.

OOC:Twenty-five years in the future the Simian Tech that was salvage will be used to help create a force that helps to SAVE humanity. A fitting tribute to the defenders that fell in the Simian War.

Fox suddenly falls out of his chair with a yelp. "I'm awake! I'm awake! The answer is the Maginot Line! ... Eh?" He looks around and stands up. He dusts himself off while looking around the bar. "I MEANT to do that."

Fox heads over to the board with a pen then makes a few notes the design before sitting down.

"Interesting design..." it reads, "...but I have not the resources to replace the bones, so endo steel can't be done. Here's something random I did as a counter...

Hunting Fox, HCT-NADU
No Hatchet, 10 DHS, 5/8/5, Light Engine
Right Arm, RAC/2, Flamer, Flamer
Left Arm, ERMLas
Left Torso, MLas, MLas
Right Torso, CASE, 2 Tons RAC Ammo
8.5 tons Ferro Armor

Feel free to leave comments and constructive etc, etc..."

Fox gets to work typing up his paperwork for the week.

So what week is that , Joe? Last week?

looks at the design...

I'd move the Famers out of the Arm and Add the Case and the Ammo to it. Having case on a torso with a Light Engine, raises your vulnerablity by almost 34%. But you know that already...

Fox nods. "I suppose so sir, but that would require rebuilding the arm specifically so CASE could be used. On most machines, we're still working out the best uses of it in the torso. It would make me less vulnerible over all, but repairs become more difficult."

Use Clan pod tech for it. I'm sure we can come up with an Arm with case...

--Vagabond walks out of the back with a bag of marshmallows as he pops of few in his mouth and looks at the message board. His attention is drawn to the grease covered as he chews on another marshmallow. He raises an eye as he goes over the various limitations and other design submissions. Absently he pops another marshmallow into his mouth as he starts clicking his tongue. He then gives Lurch a nod and turns towards the bar. Vagabond walks to the bar as he slides the bag of marshmallows to Chihawk who in return slides him a clip board with paper work, a bag of chips, and a bottle of child green tea. Picking up the items he walks back down the hall as a pop from the bottle is heard by all.—

--Several days later, Vagabond is again seen, one of many such events of the past days, as he walks back out with a print out in his hand and a card board tube under his right arm. He grabs a pin and places the print out on the board. He then bows to Lurch who hands Vagabond his companion swords and his long coat, as the day was grey and drizzly. He then walks out into the cloudy day securing his coat close around his neck and begins his walk to the Royal Rose hanger.—

--Several curious individuals check out the print out so quietly placed on the message board. It reads:--
