The board is constantly down, at least once a day cannot log in. anybody else experiments this problem? or it's just me?

Depends on what you call issues, of course. The CBT board is sluggish at all times, IMO.

I cannot access it, either from a direct link or going to the CBT home page and checking, this morning I logged on wrote the above post, and when I hit the submit button , "host cannot be found" yadda yadda
it has been a recurring problem ever since the host relocated or whatever
I updated my bookmarks accordingly, but it keeps bouncing me off. Main site loads, board doesnt.
Oddly enough, there seems to be activity going on while I can't access it. Some can get into the board, some cannot.

I just went to CBT and had no issue, and looking at the amount of new posts very few are having problems getting there.

I'm wondering if it isn't a problem with your foreign ISP, maybe they don't have good DNS lookups? I know my ISP has problems with one of the 7 "root" servers of the nets domain name system, but only that single one of the 7. oh well, could be a lot of things  Personally tho, never had any probs there.

I think you are right, Ralgith.
Oddly enough, I haven't problems accessing the rest of the site, it's just the forums that I can't access.
The problem is specifically with the host
www.classicbattletech.org
Ever since they changed domains the forums are completely screwed for me.
Can you take a look into this, Ruger?

Hey, Ruger pointed me over here.
Likely your problem is that your ISP is not resolving the hostname. This is apparantly an increasingly common problem.
Pull a tracert to http://www.classicbattletech.org
if it returns 'cannot resolve hostname' then your ISP's DNS servers are at fault, leaving you two options.
1> Yell at them
2> add it to your /hosts file (I'm assuming your on a windows box)
You will want to edit the file c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts (the file has no extension) in notepad, adding the following two lines
classicbattletech.com 66.98.250.39
classicbattletech.org 66.98.250.39
I was actually hoping moving the site would fix this problem... And it did, most of the people who had to enter cbt.com into hosts by hand no longer have to, but it created the same problem for a whole new set of users.
DNS sucks.

Tracert to classicbattletech.com works fine, it takes 16 hops to reach the host
Must be a routing problem somewhere
editing the hosts file doesn't work (not surprising since it's not a DNS problem to begin with, as far as I can tell)
if I try to do a tracer to classicbattletech.org, it tells me that the host name cannot be found
Sometimes I can log in, once or twice a day, but I cannot stay for long.
it seems the problem is just with the message board, I can view the rest of the site fine.
