Like I said, winning this was great but it was still a humbling experience.
BTW Ever thought about using a parking garage for a vehicle ambush? Just imagine those same AC20s on the 2nd level of the garage and aimed right at the mechs head. Now that is evil. Dangerous but evil.

I played a game against a guy who was using a lance of armor. I (foolishly) discounted them and bid a trinary of second-line clan mechs.
I made the mistake of wandering too close and his tanks (that were armed with the cannon-mortar things from the TacHandbook) damn near cut my Warhammer IIC in half!
I managed to cripple or kill his tanks, at the cost of my Griffin IIC and four points of standard elementals.
Since then, I NEVER dismiss armor off-hand.

Sorry, forgot to post that the guy was also using a company of mechs.

Mechs and armor together are a force to be reckoned with.

You areally are sick I love it! lol. Do you use a house rule to roll this on the punch table? (I don't feel partial cover would apply cause the vehicles would keep their guns leveled and only traverse left and right with no up and down, so thats why I'd roll on punch table.)

Well every one knows all you need to do to kill vehicles is hit them with INFERNO srms. They roll for ever turn they are on fire not to go boom.

Good luck tagging a Regulator or Saladin with one. And good luck absorbing the damage from their primary or rather only weapon systems. Gauss rifle and AC/20 respectively.
hehe I love those two!! _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

The problem with vehicles is that the big ones carry more armor and weapons than you do and the small ones are 3-4 times as fast. So you have huge easy to hit but heavilty armored and easy to kill, but hard to hit.
That is what took so long to take the bridge. I had to waste 9 rounds fiddling with the speed demons.

Yeh i played a blind scenario as a clan force (basically we didn't tell each other what we were using). I was the attacker using s binary of assault and heavies, with a couple of mediums. I just started to cross the plain and was besieged by 12 Savannah masters! They were supported by Shreks and LRM carriers. It was the most frustrating fight ive ever played! I won but only after i managed to bring my pulse lasers onto the hovers.
It was difficult to decide between wasting weapons on the Savannah's or concentrating on the heavies.
The heavies seemed the better target but its quite frustrating getting medium lasers up your Masakari's ass! In the end i had lost 5 mechs. Against all but one of his Shreks and 3 savannahs.
Somehow i think he came out the better off!

Yes! Well mechs are extremely expensive, it would be foolish to not to use vehicles. Plu i find designing vehicles much more fun, i desided to remake most of the British armies armoured vehicles to battletech standards. Worked really well. The Challenger I made is a wicked Med tank. A lance of them butchered a lance of medium an light mechs. Vehicles are underestimated. They are also fun to play with.

I have never played them myself, but after going against Seraph with them, it would be interesting to reverse the game. Not the same scenario because that just took too long. Another good tactic against them is to set fire to any forests that the tracked tanks might be travelling through. I have not found much short of lucky artillery that works well against the stupid zippy hovercrafts.

I like vehicles. I prefer the middle of the range guys, the medium tanks and hover craft. Like Condors, Bulldogs, Regulators, Manticore. Do not like the extrememly heavy stuff besides the Schrek and the Demolisher gauss.

Try using the Demolisher II, which mounts an UAC 20 and an LB 20-X AC, hidding behind a level one with some support units out in the open shooting past and over the Demolisher. When the opponent attempts to engage at close range they crest the hill and SUPRISE!! you were just fired upon by your worst nightmare. And much fun was had by all!! _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?
