Okay, Ive read through the books (albeit quite a while ago) and found some nifty stuff on fighting in Less Than Ideal Conditions.
Im wondering if theres something out there, or if anyone has ideas, on how to handle really ugly weather. Lightning strikes, hail, tornados, the works.
I know that hail wont do much damage to a mech, but what about a mech taking a direct lightning hit? When you think about it, the pilot is riding in the ultimate lightning rod. And what if, just for a lark, a supercell storm blows up in the middle of combat and whips a tornado out?
Yeah, its extreme and probably wont ever happen, but Im just curious if anyone knows or has an opinon.

I don't think lightning would do a whole lot. After all, that's what a PPC literally is. It would do some damage, maybe (random crit?) fry some of the electronics.

I'm pretty sure that the mech wouldn't take damage from lightning. The curent would travel along the armor shell and disperse into the ground. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?

Some components of the mech would probably not be able to handle that kind of current running through it. 'Mechs are supposed to have dampers and shielding of it's sensitive components to protect against PPC strikes, but I don't know if a lightning strike is more powerful than a PPC shot or not... meaning the damping and shielding may not do much at all. You might have a mech with the internals, especially the circuitry, all scrambled, if not blown.
