If that is a custom 'mech, I'm not even sure what other minis he fabricated it from. Not a bad paint job though; I saw a lance of davion heavy guards from this guy not too long ago; nice paint jobs, but I wish he'd do some of the older designs more often

I got an email last night from Jay. Apparently it is a mech from a company called Iron Winds. He used it as a 30 ton mech equipped with TAG full armour a fast engine. He didn't mention what the weaponry was though. Only being new to the hobby after a break of 20 years or so and living in the UK this company is not familiar to me. Jay says that these models are compatible but not official to the game. I suppose he used it to confuse experienced players as to what they were facing. Does anyone else use this tactic? And is it allowed?

Iron Wind Metals is the new official producer of Classic BTech minis...however, this mini is apparently not on their website ( http://www.ironwindmetals.com/ ), as a search turned up nothing...

So if Iron Winds Is the official producer of Mechs now what is Ral Parthas role. Up to now I know that Ral Partha Europe are stocking all the mechs that Iron Wind are selling as I have just cross checked their sites. Now I am confused _________________ "Thats the fastest race ever ran. But not as fast as the world record".

Could this be a Reaper miniature for the CAV game? I haven't had a chance to check yet, but the thought just occured to me.

I am not sure. I know absolutely nothing about CAV. I have checked with Jay again and he assures me it is a Strburner from Iron Wind. Did they make mechs for any other games? _________________ "Thats the fastest race ever ran. But not as fast as the world record".

The more I look at it the more I think he kit bashed it out of 3 or 4 different minis, which could be all Iron wind minis but that isnt a mech I have ever seen before. I swear the torso is from a bloodhound, and I swear I have seen the legs on a different mech.
I would ask him to send you the product code. Unless its a UK specific mech if it has a code you shoule be able to find it that way on Ironwind. But I dont think it is a real mech I think he used several different mechs or minis to make it.

I have double checked with him and he pointed me to his auction site on ebay where he has another couple that he soldthey are identical to this one and he insists it is anoriginal not a kitbash. He boughht. A batch of 20 and he sent me a couple of pics showing about 6 of these in various paint schemes. I have no reason to disbelieve him but it is very confusing noone has seen this mech anywhere before. _________________ "Thats the fastest race ever ran. But not as fast as the world record".

As far as I know, Ral Partha (at least the US branch) is defunct...at least as far as BTech is concerned...FASA acquired them, and they went under with FASA, I believe...

Have him send the product ID code. that would be the best way to locate it.

Starburner is not an official mech so my guess would be that someone designed a mould for it. Which isn't to hard when you know what your doing.
