Maybe the Weber Corporation got bought over by Ceres Metals. First run was shoddy because of poor QC by the Weber management.
Ceres Metals promptly fires the whole lot and sends in its own management team.

Ceres Metals would have come in after the fire and canned any of the management that survived the catastrophe. Then because of the surplus of the Weber Flamers they continued using them with the upgraded parts.

defenitley they would be unable to resist a takeover but as part of the agreement the staff (who survived ) were kept on and 2 full production runs of the grillmaster had to be completed
as a sign of respect to those lost in the fires the mech standrd colours are grey red mix with black lines and a large flaming skull
