In regards to the Armor-Piercing autocannon ammo:
I have a question. According to the rules, if an AC uses the AP ammo, then every hit results in an automatic chance at a critical hit.
What would happen if these rounds were used in space? Would the rounds provide a chance at a critical hit if used in space? If so, would they also provide a chance for a hull breach?
If they do work in space and they do provide a chance at a hull breach, then someone who knows how to use 'em could play havoc with enemy aerospace assets.

AFAIK, they do work in a vacuum. You have to deploy your own favorite mechs in a vacuum too, so it's not really unfair.

Secondary Question.
Can someone give me a distance increase the High Velocity AC ammo gives AC 2s and 5s?
I'ev got the price guide but I'm lacking the ability to figure out exactly the ranges.
Probably due to temporary blindness or something.

Ranges are unchanged using the ammos...

Every hit in a vacuum (or under water) results in a possible hull breach [10+]. Getting a crit in that matter (or rolling a 2 on the hit location chart) doesn't give you a second chance to breach.

I've actually noticed that not a lot of Aerospace fighters make use of ACs. The way I was thinking, if you got together a group of fighter craft that had ACs and the armor-piercing ammo they could do a lot of damage to incoming dropships.

The fluff text isn't part of the level 2 rules.

Besides the fact that Chi is part rules lawyer?
Its just a background story, that it doesnt really impact on game play in any way, shpae, or form. Though I do recall that the original 3025 Javelin entry had a modifier for traveling through rough terrain, due to its weapon and ammo placement in the mech.
Im not sure if that survived the revisions and such. Damn revisionists........

Knowing and using the rules doesn't make you a rules laywer...hiding your knowledge of certain rules and using them to your advantage does.

Can someone remind what the heck High Velocity Rounds do then.
DarkAdder mentioned I should look into them but failed to ever explain why.
He seems to think I've got every manual memorised.
