Those designs are what is owned by the company who put out the Japanese version of BT and are not owned by WizKids or FanPro.
The Project Phoniex designs are the combined efforts of countless fans to have the Unseen brough back. Granted they are not the beloved (or disliked) pictures of old as in the original TR3025, but we do have the older mechs back with art work and updated stats to keep them in the BT universe and thus not lost to forgotten golden era of BT history.
I would have loved to see some of the Japanese art from their version of the game in our version, but even then some of the art isn't what fits as BT art, but that is my opinion.
Also given how FASA and Harmony Gold fought a very lengthly court case over who has the right to use certain art work means that FP and WK aren't going to go with outside work if they can avoid it, mainly to keep moneis where they belong being invested in future products.
Anyways my two cents on this.

Apologies if the post seemed to demean the Project Phoenix artwork. Its what comes of posting something in a hurry while working
Quite a number of design in PP are actually quite decent, but i'll never be able to envisage a marauder as anything other then what i always remember it to be (ie the officer's battle pod Glaug... err.. whatever the Japanese called it..). The PP design's actually quite nice.. but it ain't a marauder to me.. it's just another Mech.
As for the Japanese Btech art, well, its their own take on it. Each of course is allowed his opinion of what is Btech art, that i can agree with you..
after all, next thing we know, someone might draw a box, put two stubby legs on it and call it a mech... oh wait.. i did just that.. whoops.

they do look kinda gundamish but everyone has the right to express their own creativity.
Tops to the artists. Some of those mechs look good.

Very good designs, some are not really mechish, more robotish. Wonder where the pilot goes on some of em, lol. The Enforcer is particularly nice, but nothing on the classic bread and butter version.
My praise to the artists, excellent work

I must say that I like some of the artwork on this site. But I pose the following... does this not reminisce of Robotech or even further back, Japanimation from the '70s and early '80s?

I"ve never had any use for the Project Phoenix art...or much of the new btech art in general. 3055 and 3058 had a lot of ugly designs; I stopped buying new stuff after that. _________________ "The enemy's gate is down."
