You should carry enough munitions to kill every enemy plus one extra cartridge.

I will have to agree with the compatable rounds theory. My blades will stay, however.
As for the sleep discussion, most everyone has already said it. Eat, drink and sleep as much as you can now because you may not be able to do any of the above for quite a while once we enter that hole.
On a second note, when do we forcibly volunteer the gullible sucker to go through first to check the bottom of that tunnel?

Saberdance raises a finger to push his hat off his brow.
"I suggest one-eye. He hasn't said much since panzermunchie (or whatever) came in.
As for weapons, the SMG is a nice weapon, but I'm expecting to be crawling around on my belly quite a bit, and lining up a shot with an SMG from that position will be hard enough. With the pistol it will be easier and I can use a flashlight in the off hand. This is pretty much the same reason I'm not bringing a helmet. It will be hard enough to get through the tunnel in the bullet-vest.
As for ammo, I would assume the .45ACP is pretty standard for the .45's in the audience. If not, well, I'm not too attached to the .45 in my shoulder-holster, I could go with a different make. I stay away from laser weapons just out of practice. I don't like them."
Saberdance glances over at the monstrocity in three pieces in a backpack.
"Just out of curiosity, do you intend to fire that thing from that position? I'm just wondering, because if we get into a firefight, I'm not covering your keaster for the two minutes it takes you to reassemble it. And get a decent bullet for your pistol. Either an HVAP 9mm (Penetration) or a .45ACP (knock them down so they don't get up). I don't want someone shooting a plink gun when the fat hits the fire."
ooc: read generously, .45ACP is, obviously, the standard M1911A2 cartridge, but I'm assuming it (or its descendent) is the standard catridge for the 31st century .45 Automatic. I don't know the 31st century weaponry's complete etiology. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

::wakes up at mention of katana::
They might be good, but they take a lot of room to use them right. I'll stick with the pistol.
::goes over and takes an SMG::
All right, I'll keep the SMG around, although I still plan on using the pistol for most things. I'll not bother with the laser; it doesn't have dependable stopping power, and I don't like the idea of giving them a nice, bright line to follow back to where I'm hiding. Muzzle flash is visible enough as is.
And speaking of visibility, everyone seems to have a set of night vision goggles. I think I'll go augment my equipment; I'll be back before Mordel wakes up.

Oh for GODS sake put away the "my penis is better than your penis" gear! NO ONE in their right mind would use weapons that are 1122+ YEARS OLD. Much in the same way if you have a gun from the age of columbus you would NOT use it for active duty! At most it is going to be in a climate controlled glass case where you LOOK at it and show it off. Get some useful gear and please stop with the antiques show!
ooc. Sorry for the eruption and the language its just getting really silly.

*Walks up to equipment crates to pick up weapons provided by Vagabond et al.*
I'd suggest you take the laser pistol anyway, since they have a number of uses besides just shooting people.
Vagabond, what's the caliber on the SMGs? .45 I hope, the same as our pistols, so we can swap ammo back and forth if needs be (plus the stopping power). Anyway, thanks for getting us standardize weapons. I'll take a few minutes to fill out the forms for you...

I realize that often my humor is quite understated arounf here, but considering PanzerMaster here is walking around with a %*#&$-in machinegun which I highly doubt can be effectively assembled in 8.3 seconds and decided to park a starship over the hole...
Surely people can see the humor in Panzermunchie.
Hmmm, night vission goggles are nice, but I worry that we're going to be walking along a dark corridor and FLASH...
At least my eyes will already be adjusted to the dark. Nonetheless, I'm happy to let the IR guys go first.
And though I doubt I will use it, I too shall carry an SMG into combat, but the Pistol shall still be my primary weapon.
More water, more food. We may be gone a long time. _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

I see the logic is what you are doing, I will take one of the SMGs and a laser pistol. *signs the oroffered forms and surrneder his own weapons as collateral* Let's get this show on the road.
