Well?

Any thoughts on the Martial Olympiad event that Randall announced in the April Batlechat?

What is this Randell said? I'm not allowed over there so I wouldn't know.

Did you know about Monte Diablo? It was a FanPro sponsored nation-wide Btech game where the results were tabulated and will be put into a sourcebook.

Martial Olymp. will be similar, except for it sounds like individuals will be competing using lance-vs-lance BV balanced forces in a tournament. The battles will be played in July and August, I think.

It sounds like fun. I wish FASA had done this sort of promotion. Maybe they wouldn't have ceased to exist if they had.

BV balanced...wow...talk about a mis-match...waiting to happen...but who knows they have fixed the system in time for this program to begin.

Don't forget the most important part of what he said...

"Every year from now on, during the summer months of July and August, the CBT Martial Olympiads will run. During those two months, every player will be expected to play a set number of lance vs. lance games, each of which will be scored. At the end of the event season, the high scoring player (or players in the case of a tie) will be the winner of that year's Martial Olympiads and his or her name will be added to the CBT universe in the next appropriate product"

Pay special attention to that last sentence...

So like are FP volunteers and employees allowed to take part or is this true FAN based setup that only non-FP assoiated folks can take part in? Or is a free for all?

Well,

The Volunteers are almost invariably fans, so they'll be able to take part. The employees? The employees are too busy to take part.

Clutch

P.S. I appreciate the questions and input, but do Karagin and Cadet EVER have anything nice to say?

Yeah I do, but getting my name in a new battleTech product isn't quite enough to get me excited.

You know I even praised Nystul for a few things. BVs, killing LAMs, and First Strike.

Well, generally no, they don't. Karagin likes to complain time and time again how the BV system is unbalanced and Cadet... well, he's just cadet.

We tolerate them and allow them to post because we find them amusing.
