Well while that might be true for some, a lot of folks take it that if someone contected with BT publishes something in say Battletechnology or Star Date or Star Drive (when those magazines were around) then it was good enough for them.

Than those some are wrong. None of that's canon, no matter who made it.

It might still be really cool to use in your own games, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just not canon until it hits official print.

Also noting that at one time Star Date was a offical FASA approved magazine, and if my memory is correct they would publish errata or Q&A info in there for the game.

If FASA designates that as an official publication, then yes, it would be canon. However, I believe your memory is incorrect. Stardate had a close relationship with FASA and get some bones thrown to it, but ultimately the errata and Q&A were always reprints, produced by FASA.

And even if FASA designated it as canon, the current owner or license holder can void the canon status if they so choose. Randall and Herb have both been clear on many occasions that they consider matters published outside printed books, specifically stuff from magazines, to not be canon.

So let me ask this...the mechs on the 93/94 flyers that made the rounds at gaming conventions...are those offical or not? They were in a offical FASA published and approved item...

So it seems that we have a slight issue here as far as what makes it offical...is only in a TRO or in a company approved flyer or what have you...

Unless FASA indicated that they were an official publication, no.

And even then, I don't think WK or FP would recognize those pamphlets, so they're not canon.
