Actually if I had to choose, I'd take the LRM 15. I'm more likely to take the odd Gauss Rifle but the issue is no matter how much ammo I pack for my campaigns. Guass rounds are always lacking. So I prefer the LRM 15 due to the fact amoo is cheaper/more common due to the fact you can jiggle 5,10, or 20 ammo into the 15 if desperate.
But thats just me.

I've been reading this thread for a bit, weighing the options and my likes and dislikes about each weapon system.
I'm gonna have to go with the LRM-15 over the Gauss Rifle for one very simple reason. Ammo quantity. the fact that you only get 8 rounds of ammo per ton for the gauss is a huge deficit. Not to mention that the weapn cna then still explode on you when you run out. If you are playing by level 1 rules, it can;t be turned off IRRC. But you always have the option of dumping the ammo for the LRM if and when it starts to get a bit exposed. If I'm playing more advanced rules, and not a campaign game, where you have to worry about logistics, then I will go with the gauss. You have just got to love the hit, 1 kill possibility it brings to the table. But you have also got to love the crit chances of the LRM, not to mention missle hits are the bane to vehicles and VTOLs.

The LRM-15 only gets 8 turns of fire per ton of ammo, too. That out of the way, why choose?
