Guess it was going to happen given that UPN kept moving it around and then sticking it up against three powerhouses on Firday night...SG-1, SG-A and BSG.
I liked the show and thanks to my wife and our DVR, I was able to keep up with the show while in Iraq. It was a good day when I got the pacakges from her with the two DVDs filled with SG1 and SGA and Enterprise.
What did you folks think of the show?

This past season was showing promise, but the temporal cold war thing was just...tiring...

That's a damn shame. The Star Trek franchise was showing signs of life with the third and fourth seasons of Enterprise. Nothing will ever beat Next Generation, but Enterprise was close...
it's a damn shame. I could see that they had a lot of good stories left in that show.

My wife and I who liked TNG and DS9 were hoping for the best. But the time war thing painted them into a corner. Had to have Klingons and other things. I think they could of had a blast with the Andorians, Orions (did they every get shown) Treelulites (OK most are spelled wrong). More primitve warfare and survival I think would have helped.
AWAD- did not watch the last two seasons

Yeah, my tolerance for the show only lasted a season. I was hoping to see the first two interstellar wars (you know, the one that was fought with nukes and was so bloody the Klingons fought the Romulans for 60 years instead of the Humans...)
I didn't particularly think they did a good job retrograding the technology and however much I might like Scott Bakula, Archer just wasn't that compelling. He wasn't proper like Picard, he wasn't a cowboy like Kirk. He wasn't a philosopher like Sisco. He was a male version of Janeway (another captain I didn't particularly care for). Tucker was pretty much the only one I liked. The translator was cool, but they underutilized her for the first season and then I don't think they used her translating abilities again. She became like Sigourny Weaver in Galaxy Quest (I talked to the computer...) _________________ "Politics is the Art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, misdiagnosing the problem, and applying the wrong solution."

This past season has had episodes that've shown the reasons behind the relations with the Vulcans being the way they were, and how they were changed between Enterprise and TOS, introed the Orions (or was that last season? Some of the Enterprise crew were kidnapped by Orion pirates to be sold as slaves) and the Tellerites (not sure if I spelled it right either), showed how the Romulan war could have gotten started, and shows some of the beginning moves to starting the Federation (the Andorians, Vulcans, Tellerites and Terrans all working together against a common enemy, with Earth persuading these others to do this)...This season has really turned things around for the show, IMO...if it ever comes out on DVD, I might consider this season (and this season only really...although the other Andorian episodes from previous seasons were also ok)...

Wasn't it stated some time early last year that this would be the last season? Especially since they were looking to maybe cancelling it even before then, but were convinced into going another season or 2.

According to the interviews in Starlog magazine, the actors and actoress were on a seasonal contract and would be called if the show was going to have another season or not. This was happening since season 2 according to the current issue of Starlog #332 and the interview with Linda Park aka Hoshio.

I wasn't surprised, I thought that I was watching reruns anyway. There are more than enough Star Trek shows out there. I thought the show was pretty good, going back before the original 5 Year mission. I liked seeing the modern version of the Andorans, Tellarites and how things have changed. I wish the Enterprise had used the earlier design cues from the first series and then made it a moe "human" instead of "federation" design. It looks too "modern" to me.

The modern look may be because the model for this class of enterprise was based off a ship that appeared in either TNG or DS9, don't remember which, but I'll see if I can find it on one of the ST ship spec sites I've got bookmarked for BT conversion of the ships heh.

Chances are it was in TNG. Picard had pictures/models of every ship that had the name of Enterprise in captain's room I believe.

I remember that scene, it was in the 'Borg movie. I have an old trekkie book called the Chronology of space flight, I would expect something like the Patton Class cruiser which seemed to be a hammerhead shaped ship with the warp pods attached to a squarish aft section. I would expect the hull style to be a cross between the smooth crisp federation style, and a kind of girder/boxy style we have now.

I only caught a few epeisodes, but I recall that the Enterprise looked very much like an Akira. Might that be what you're referring to, ralgith?
I never figured out: does the Enterprise series take place before or after the formation of the Federation? Who owned this new Enterprise?
