What exactly does the word "munchy" mean? Is it anything like the D&D word "munchkin"?

It means so uber powerful as to be lame cause it almost always wins (the few times it does not are because it loses to things like head shots or gang tactics [5 other mechs all gang up and blast it to snot]). I've designed a few of these myself, but there are even a few canon designs that match this description. Mud is good at bringing them up, such as Warhawk (Masakari) Prime, and C, Turkina, several variants of the Dire Wolf.... I could go on
However, what mud fails to note is that even level 1 IS designs can be munchy, like the Thunderbolt. T-Bolt almost always wins against mechs up to, and often above its own weight. Yet I never see him bashing it . Just the munchy clan designs heh.
Darn all these level 1 freaks anyways lol.

Hey, the Thunderbolt wins by using lots of brute force and taking punishment that would drop other mechs.
That's quite different from one of the clanner munch monsters that just shoots you to pieces either by hitting with lots of guns at long range or using aim with a TC at shorter ranges.
Or the Custom Light laser boats with lots of small lasers and a TC, moving at least 10/15(20) and always trying for an aimed shot at a torso location.

I never said the Clan Mechs werent even more munchy, but they are level 2. In level 1 play a TBolt is one of the nastiest little munchies out there. In level 2 play it isnt though. Now for some reason I can't think of any L2 IS munchers off the top of my head... but thats just cause clan tech is better at being munchy.

Ah. Got it. But shouldn't such things simply be considered "well designed"? _________________ Evil is like a bowl of oranges. Only one, instead, is an orange of DOOM. That orange has a fate to rule over the other oranges with an iron fist. That orange is me.

Nah, well-designed has to be taken from the view point of fluff (yes that's me speaking). A realistic well-designed mech makes use of available resources to try and achieve the best results.
It will also reflect the bias of the state producing the mech.
So the Fedcom will tend to pack autocannons, preferably rotary autocannons while the Draconis Combine will look at C3 systems and ER PPCs (which it has an abundance of for some reason..)

Yeah, the Lyrans use the old BNC-3E Banshee for scouting. If they had em in quantity you know they'd use CGR-1A1 Chargers. _________________ If ignorance is bliss, then why are you so miserable?
