Anyone know this?
Someone keeps trying to tell me that the Longbow didn't appear in any publications before L2 tech came out. I know I saw it somewhere, but I don't remember where now, so could anyone who knows where the Longbow first appeared drop a reply to me plz.

Ok, everyone can ignore this rofl. While I was writing it I was dropped an email, finished, checked the email, and had my answer heh.
It first appeared in the Sorenson's Sabres sourcebook.

Offically it was in Sorbesen Sabers...it had appeared before that in an issue of StarDate, which was then the offical FASA magazine, for the BT, ST and a couple of other games they had going.
So it was out long before it hit the offical book as was the Flea, same issue as the Longbow, I will post which one once I get the books unpacked.

Could you, or anyone, post the StarDate and Sorenson's Sabres versions please? I've got several people requesting stats on 'em.

Check the record sheets: 3055/3058. The Longbow OW. Ever wondered why that one had a totally different designation? Yeah, the OW is the original, NOT the 7Q!
StarDate also had a variant listed that is similar to the Longbow-7Q. If you want a summary of the specs, I recommend checking CBT List (in Mordel's link section). That is the best internet site as far as research into old designs is concerned. Check the "Magazine BattleMechs" section. I hightly, highly recommend that site!!
The German version of TRO:3026 had more stuff in it than the American original. Included were the Wolf's Dragoons vehicles (sadly not the 'mechs ) and five 'mechs: the two Liao House Book 'mechs (Raven and Cataphract) and three 'mechs, then out of StarDate, which have since been made official in the American sector, also (Flea, Wolfhound, Longbow). The German TRO (called TRO:3031) is one of the coolest volumes ever published!

Thanks JS. Someone beat me to posting it though lol, someone who actually HAS the old StarDate magazine. It was a discussion on one of the 4 BattleTech themed yahoo groups I'm a member of.

Well, I have an (almost) complete collection of Battletechnology magazines. And I will get a complete set of StarDates (though some in photocopied form) within the next month.....
After that, it will be on to Tech Factory, and the few Space Gamers that contained Battledroid stuff..... After that, Future Wars, I guess.
My biggest problem with BT these days is that the people in charge seem to be concerned with streamlining things in the first place. Marketing is the 2nd concern. Richness of universe fluff seems distant 3rd.... By far my biggest interest, now that I'm back in the circuit, will be catching up on old source material.
