"For when you just have to reach out and touch someone."
In this one, there's two passes in a hilly area. The party and the rest of their company (including support) are on the move in order to hit an OPFOR unit that has been spotted in the area and need to go through this area in order to get at them.
Thing is, one of the two passes has been deeply mined. Sounds like all they gotta do is go through the other one, right?
Wrong.
An Alacorn and a pair of 3050 Strikers (possibly more if I allow the party air support) not only hold the high ground, but are in a perfect sniping position to hit anyone who goes through the second pass. One could rush the tanks and / or the pass, but in doing so they'd encounter some teams of power armor and their carriers.
The goal for this one is to teach the party how to kill and kill quickly. The Alacorn and the Stikers will run out of ammo at approximately the same time; it's been pre-planned that once they run out and begin their withdrawl, air support will come in and strafe the party's company every six turns until either one of the two factions (party or OPFOR) yields the field through death or withdrawl. And there will be *no* artillery support for this one, as the unit's arty was sabotaged the night before (part of the reason why they're pursuing the OPFOR unit; they could very well have been the saboteurs).

I like this scenario. I'd give more reason to take the unmined pass. It's nothing for me to designate either grunts to clearing mines or if I have extra ammo then I send a couple of LRM carriers to clear the mines. Either way, I know the mined pass is less guarded than the unmined pass.
Keep some infantry near the tanks for support. If the mechs stop near the tanks to engage at close range then have the grunnts run out and try to attack(anti-mech training is a BIG plus here).

Like I said - the main goal is to teach the players to work quickly. They're facing suppressing fire from an Alacorn (3 Guass Rifles) and some tanks with LRMs, so if they hesitate then they're going to start hurting in short order. And even if those tanks run out of ammo, they then have to worry about the air support and their lack of artillery.

Rush the tanks, stomp on the infantry. Tanks go pop easy. But of course, this is all dependent upon what the players are actually using. As well as which vehicle rules you're using as well.

Tanks don't always go pop easy. Sometimes the buggers are down right hard to kill, even taking damage.

Ya, they are pretty difficult some times. But more often than not, the big tanks end up getting one of those killing critical hits long before they run out of armor.
In fact, in a recent game I was involved in, our unit was basic doing a running battle where enemies kept popping up from the sides. A few mechs here and there, but mostly tanks. As we started running through, we kept getting those crits on'em the whole way. We left a long trail of legless mechs and track destroyed tanks in our path.

YEah that seems to happen a lot... which i why i don't bother putting too much armour on them. Better to carry more weapons or move faster (preferably more weapons )
