Excellent points Nightward and something is being done to make this bias against the mechs.
Vehicles can mount more armor then mechs, so that is a favoring weight for the vehicle. Going with max armor doesn't do anything for this comparison but favor the vehicle.
The points of useage come into play. Comparing a hovercraft to anything short of the VTOL, is always going to favor the hovercraft since it can move faster and thus do more if it can use the speed.
Noting that you want fast speed I posted two fast ultra lights, BOTH of which meet and defeat your original cost issue, BOTH are well in the price range you stating vehicle win over the mechs. Each of the mechs come in under the 1 million c-bill mark and each would be consider fast scouts or raiders. That is what they are made for, not sluggers or front line fighters.
You need to really have role and usage taken into account as well as all of the techincal points if you are trying for a fair comparison. Other wise the vehicles will always win if it's done on simple cost alone. Even the most exspensive vehicles can mount more armor and some times weapons then mechs of the same weight class. That is how the rules are set up, the differecnes then come up in HOW the vehicles take damage and what terrain they can and can not deal with. That is where the mechs gain their main advantages.

The problem is you've not really made an argument. All you've done is shown something that's already been proven many times....vehicles tend to be cheaper than mechs.

You want another argument for your side Warhammer? Insted of looking at cost, which is sort of an imaginary number only utilised in some campaigns, compare battle values. They may, or may not, prove which is more effective.

Battle Value? That's just another imperfect number used for some campaigns and battles. The best dueling MechWarriors find mechs that are BETTER than their BV would suggest in order to get an edge over the opposition.

Me thinks you all are forgetting the fun factor that is suppose to come into play in the game. 8) It's the variety of useful, weird, and cheese that makes this a great game. Sometimes you just gotta set aside the accountant book and just go try some things without worrying about cost.
