Yes, the DCMS would have used cheaper stuff. Like a standard engine, MRMs and regular lasers.
Hmmm... It actually fits! I wouldn't take this machine against clanners, but it's certainly cheaper than the 1A. If I had a limitless supply of MechWarriors it's a different matter.
BattleMech Technical Readout
Type/Model: Rakshasa MDG-1K
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3055
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 2, Standard design
Mass: 75 tons
Chassis: GM Marauder Special MD Endo Steel
Power Plant: 300 GM Fusion
Walking Speed: 43,2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64,8 km/h
Jump Jets: None
Jump Capacity: 0 meters
Armor Type: StarGuard Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
2 Large Lasers
2 Medium Lasers
2 MRM 20s
1 Medium Pulse Laser
Manufacturer: unknown
Location: unknown
Communications System: Dalban Micronics
Targeting & Tracking System: Dalban HiRez II
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The DCMS just had to build their own version of the Rakshasa in order to prove how good they are. This mech still sports expensive FF armor and ES internals, but carries little of the high-tech weapons finery. It also dispenses with the XL engine to cut costs.
==Capabilities:==
CASE couldn't be fitted on this variant either. Two regular large lasers replace the ER models on the FedCom model, while the LRM racks have been changed for two MRM-20 launchers. The only original guns to survive the re-design are the medium lasers and the medium pulse laser.
DCMS tacticians hope to make up for the decreased speed and weapon ranges by only engaging when they can gain numerical superiority and swamp the clan enemy with concentrated short-range fire. Considering that most clan heavy mechs are faster only assault units can be swamped. Losses are expected to be horrendous, but several new MechWarrior schools have been started with an eye to this.
==Variants:==
Various FedCom models that are not worthy the true Warriors of the Dragon, of course.
==Deployment==
With units expected to fight clanners and die in true Kuritan wave attacks.

Umm... , MRMs would stay, but I would need to devote some effort to it (not easy after whole day in school :/ (no emoticon for sour face))

Another options is to replace the LLs, MLs and Medium pulse with two er ppcs... high heat.. no longer a direct copy but fun.

Hey, that was actually the thing I considered When I look at Clan ERLL, only counterpart that can (hardly) match it is IS ER PPC.

The DCMS might go with two standard PPCs instead of ER models just to keep costs down. That would be a rather deadly mech, methinks.

Not sure about that though. The Akuma mounts an ER PPC standard and that is one that they built as a cost effective assult.

My Rakshasa doesn't have room for enough heat sinks to support two ER PPCs. The price of using a standard engine...

Except the guy with explosive, un-CASEd ammo onboard...
2XERPPC + 2XMRM20 = 42 heat. 14DHS = 28 points heat dissipation. Net 14 points, check for shutdown. The ammo explosion is only five points further up, easily gained from an engine hit or Infernos.
I don't mind a bit of heat, but the first Alpha strike shouldn't bring you up quite that far.
